If you haven’t heard of the program before, you’ll definitely want to pay attention! Volunteer UCF’s Alternative Break Program is an awesome program bringing students to locations throughout the United States and internationally to volunteer during the various breaks throughout the year! During the MLK, fall, winter, and spring breaks these groups of students take on 11 different social issues head-on in the local communities in which they volunteer.
From hunger and homelessness to arts and recreation, there is bound to be an issue you’re interested in. Each trip brings a group of 8 students, one site leader, and one faulty advisor to the destination they’ll be working with. Some trips specialize within the Honors College, LEAD Scholars, and Outdoor Adventure programs to tailor trips for everyone!
Each location serves a different social issue, from reef relief for environment in the Keys to youth mentoring in an orphanage in Guatemala. A full list and description of each trip can be found here under “Trips” http://osi.ucf.edu/abp/.

This year they’re making trips more affordable than ever so money should not be an issue. A deposit of $50 is required for most spring break trips and each team will be working to fundraise the rest! All of that will include food, transportation, and housing at each site for the week.
With all of that being said, applications are due for the rest of the spring break trips by THIS Friday, October 11th, 2013 by 5pm. Go to this link: https://ucf.collegiatelink.net/ and log in using your PID. Once logged in, go to this link: https://ucf.collegiatelink.net/organization/vucf/availableforms and click on the participant application to apply! Go out and change lives and have fun!
