Weekend brunch is a staple part of LA and the greater Southern California culture, which is why there are a myriad of places to choose from. I have made things a little easier for you by recommending some of my top favorite brunch spots that I have grown to love over the last three and a half years living here. Here are four restaurants that you are sure to love on you next brunch outing:
- Blu Jam Cafe
-
This restaurant has six locations throughout Los Angeles, but my favorite is the one on Melrose Avenue. This spot is perfect for Sunday brunch because you can enjoy some delicious food before heading over to the Melrose Trading Post down the street to shop from local artists, creators and collectors. Blu Jam Cafe contains zero freezers because they believe in serving only the freshest food. What’s even more amazing is that all of their ingredients are locally sourced! So not only are you eating good quality food, but you are also helping support local vendors and produce companies. My favorite dish is their signature Crunchy French Toast, which consists of a “French brioche dipped in our secret batter, rolled in crunchy corn flakes and grilled to perfection, topped with fresh berries, served with powdered sugar and vanilla bean sauce.” Their food never disappoints and leaves your mouth watering for more.
- Joan’s on Third
-
This popular spot on Third Street is always bustling with people from morning to afternoon. The family-run business believes that “the simple things in life are worth celebrating–like friends, family and delicious food.” Joan’s serves a variety of breakfast and brunch menu items with some fresh sweets and pastries from their bakery. My favorite go-to order is the Fried Chicken Sandwich with their signature Lemonade. You might think this sounds basic and not that special, but their food is truly something else. You definitely need to check them out if you haven’t already. Joan’s will leave you feeling full and satisfied with a craving to return again!Â
- Urth Caffé
-
This international sensation is famous for its rich coffees and fine teas, along with many organic, vegan and gluten-free food options made with 100% natural ingredients. It has many locations spread throughout Southern California with all of their sustainable ingredients locally sourced, so you get to enjoy healthy eating while also supporting local farmers. One of my favorite dishes is The Tostada, and I can hands-down say it was one of the tastiest meals I have ever had in LA. Urth Caffé really knows how to please their customers and leave them wanting more.
- The Rose Venice
-
This hotspot in the heart of Venice is known not only for the amazing food, but also for the phenomenal interior design decked with local Venice artists’ work. The menu serves Southern California classics that have been influenced by the head chef’s international travels and experiences. One of my favorite brunch options are the Grilled Rockfish Tacos that are simultaneously light and filling. You can enjoy a nice walk on the Venice Boardwalk afterwards since the restaurant is optimally located less than a 10 minute walk from the beach.Â
If you have not gone to brunch in LA yet, you are missing out. No matter which place you choose to dine at, you will be sure to enjoy delicious, mouth-watering food that will make you want to visit again. Make your reservations today!
