Although Los Angeles is known for being a hub of health, trendy diets, and fitness, the sunny city by no means skimps out on being one of the best places for delicious, decadent sweets. To celebrate the start of summer, we stopped by all of our favorite dessert shops in Los Angeles and had a huge team tasting to help create this list of the best desserts in LA.

- Cookie Good
-
Cookie Good has some of the most creative desserts in Los Angeles, with uniquely flavored cookies, delicious edible cookie dough, and even cookie flavored kettle corn. We tried an assortment of their creative cookie flavors such as Smores, Oreo-Butterfinger, Frosted Flakes, Glazed Donut, Blueberry Glazed, Caramel Pretzel Chocolate Chunk and Chocolate Fleur de Sel.  Also, for you gluten-free readers, they have a full gluten-free menu too! Now everyone can feel “cookie good!”
We were lucky enough to try so many of their most popular and innovative flavors. To my surprise, the cookie with that received the most praise was the blueberry glazed. Never had I had something so chewy and soft! Our co- Campus Correspondent, Megan Reusche, said: “it mimicked the taste of a classic blueberry muffin!” Delicious!
Cookie Good is located in Santa Monica and available online. We highly recommend checking out their website to see what flavors are available as they are always innovating and coming up with new exciting and delicious flavors.
- Susie Cakes
-
Susie Cakes truly sticks with the classics. With simple, fresh ingredients and classic flavors, one bite of their cake will give you a nostalgic experience of eating the first slice at your 10th birthday party.
We tried a handful of their delicious cupcakes in a variety of flavors, but our favorites had to be their classics like vanilla, birthday cake, and chocolate. We love their iconic buttercream icing which fits perfectly with the moist and sweet cupcakes.
One of our writers, Aletta Cooke, was particularly impressed by their mint chocolate cupcake to which she described as, “delicious and moist with the most-perfectly whipped buttercream frosting.” She also gave brownie points for its cute presentation: “It had the prettiest wintergreen-colored frosting with chocolate sprinkles for a nice touch.” In terms of the flavor, she commended the rich, dark chocolate taste, but at the same time, hoped for a slightly stronger mint flavor to shine through.
There are multiple Susie Cakes locations all over Los Angeles, with the one closest to UCLA located in Brentwood. In addition to delicious cupcakes, Susie Cakes also serves cakes, brownies, and mini pies, which are just as amazing.
- Sweet Laurel
-
Located in the Pacific Palisades, Sweet Laurel is the epitome of “the best of both worlds.” With each dessert having less than five ingredients, Sweet Laurel creates the reality of healthy, wholesome, but still indulgent, decadent sweets. All of their desserts are paleo: grain-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free. They also have several vegan and raw options too!
We were all a little skeptical at first. How could a dessert without grains, dairy, and sugar be…well… dessert? And a good one nevertheless? Well, Laurel’s delicious cookies and oh-so-chocolatey brownies threw all our doubts away because her desserts were 100%, absolutely magical.
Check out our profile with the amazing founder and UCLA alumna Laurel Gallucci! Also, check out her website for more information on her healthy sweets cooking class and cook book with amazing recipes.
- Atticus Creamery and Pies
-
What’s a dessert article without pies? At Her Campus, we don’t discriminate. Atticus Creamery and Pies is known for their handcrafted delicacies. They use only the most fresh, natural, and organic ingredients. On a diet? Have no fear because Atticus Creamery and Pies have a huge selection of mini hand pies too! Best of all, they deliver through Postmates, Doordash, Caviar, and GrubHub! There is literally no excuse.
Atticus Creamery and Pies were so generous, giving Her Campus 24 mini pies! Yes, t-w-e-n-t-y f-o-u-r. We loved their small, sharable size, which is great for groups who want to try as many flavors as possible without getting full from one large pie.
We got to try the Lemon Lavender, Early Grey, Peanut Butter Cup, Apple Crumble, Vegan Blueberry, AND Oreo pie! Our writer, Sophia Siqueiros raves about the Lemon Lavender pie, describing it as “a lemon-lover’s dream.” She shared that it, “was a refreshing pie filled with lemon curd and topped with lavender cream and raspberry sauce. An unlikely trio, but we were pleasantly surprised at how tasty this pie proved to be!”
Make sure to stop by Atticus Creamery and Pies in West LA or order from those delivery apps if you’re too excited to wait to drive there.
- Sprinkles
-
Sprinkles is THE place in Los Angeles for your classic cupcakes as I’m sure everyone has seen the famous pink cupcake ATM. However, this does not go without saying their cupcakes are anything but ordinary. They are extremely moist, decadent and filling, and with each bite, the quality of the ingredients shine through.
The fan favorite of the night was the classic red velvet. It was dense and filling, bursting with flavor– a cupcake on steroids. The balance of tanginess from the cream cheese frosting and the sweetness from the cake made each bite a true delicacy. Cooke said, “Half a cupcake brings you to tears. And a full cupcake? You’ve died and gone to heaven.”
There are multiple Sprinkles locations, but one of our favorites is the Beverly Hills Sprinkles which has the famous cupcake ATM outside (serving cupcakes 24/7) and Sprinkles Ice Cream– which makes the most amazing cupcake ice cream sundaes.
- Milk
-
Milk brings on a new twist to your classic ice cream shop. They take your ice cream eating experience to a whole new level. Thai tea ice cream shakes? Milk’s got it. Grasshopper mint chocolate macaron ice cream sandwiches? Milk’s got it. Cookies, brownies and cakes too? Milk’s most definitely has got it.
What we got were six adorable macaron ice cream sandwiches: fruity pebbles, fruit loops, grasshopper, red velvet, strawberry and coconut. They also offer other delicious flavors like salted caramel, banana dulce de leche and green tea rose. My personal favorite was the fruity pebbles one. The flavor was spot on, the ice cream tasted as if it were infused with fruity pebble deliciousness and the presentation put the experience over the top. Absolute perfection!
To try one of the adorable delicacies, make sure to stop by Milk next time you’re near Beverly or Silverlake!
