Look Your Virtual Best With This Makeup Look For Your Next Zoom Call

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

Job interview? Virtual date? Zoom photo shoot? Just wanting to just amp up and highlight your natural features in a subtle way? I’ve got you. Below I have listed a simple, low effort makeup look that is perfect for any Zoom or virtual meeting. Follow these steps to glow and emphasize your natural beauty with this very minimal, “no makeup” makeup look.

Blot and Prime

I usually don’t start any of my virtual meetings until the afternoon. For an oily skin girl like me, that means that my face will already be pretty oily by that time of day. Before anything, I like to blot my face by using an oil blotting sheet. Directly after, I like to prime my face in order to control oil production on my skin for the rest of the day.

Concealer

I like to use a very small amount for concealer. I want my skin to look as effortless and natural as possible, so I use only where it is needed. No need to contour the face or clean the edges of your eyebrows with concealer. Apply with dots rather than “painting” the face.

Mattifying Powder

As I was mentioning earlier, I need a mattifying powder in order to limit oil production and set the makeup. I think most girls can agree that it is not a “cute” look when your skin is as oily as olive oil (especially on a camera). I recommend this specific Maybelline FIT me powder because it doesn’t look “cakey” and finishes like natural skin.

Bronze & Highlight

I like to add bronzer to define features and warm up my face. The convenient thing about bronzer is that you can apply to define both your eyelids and cheekbones. Who could ever say no to some snatched cheekbones?

Add highlight in small amounts on the cheekbones and bridge of the nose to make your skin looking refreshed and healthy.

Eyebrows

Lightly fill in the eyebrows with soft brush movements. You want the strokes to look the same as the hair on your eyebrow. Be sure to only fill in where there are sparse areas. Again, you want to fill in your eyebrows, not necessarily “sharpen” the eyebrows. Keep it natural. Finish by setting with eyebrow gel.

Moisturize and Color the Lips

During this last step, you want to moisturize your lips with a hydrating lip balm. As an optional next step, line your lips with a natural lip liner to keep your lips looking full and plush with a lasting, hint of color. Follow your natural lip line.

Not wearing any makeup in your Zoom calls is absolutely okay. Wearing makeup in your Zoom calls is absolutely okay as well. Do what is needed for YOU to feel your very best, whichever virtual meeting you may be in. But if you do decide to wear makeup for a virtual meeting, these steps might help you cover the basics and make you feel your very best without the major hassle of a full makeup routine. Happy Zooming!
