Campus Cutie: May Mitchell
Age: 20
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
Major: Theater (Design Production Concentration)
Relationship Status: Single

Her Campus UCLA: I know you are a busy gal, May, but can you tell me all the extracurriculars you are involved in?
May Mitchell: I’m involved in theater, theater, more theater, and the Office of Residential Life as a Program Assistant.

HC UCLA: What do you love most about theater? And are you going to be involved in any productions?
MM: I love the ability to make the audience live alongside the characters. Live theater is so extraordinary because the moments that the audience watches cannot be re-winded and experienced again. You must live in the moment. I’m going to be involved in a production called The Ginger Man. I’m assisting the scenic and lighting designers. I’m quite excited!

HC UCLA: What is a theater production you’d love to work on (can include the transition from book to stage or film to stage)?
MM: I would love to work on a production involving fantasy and magic. I mean what’s not to love about a staged Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings? I would love to make the magic tangible to the audiences.

HC UCLA: Favorite way to spend school vacations?
MM: I so rarely sleep during the quarter, when I get a break that’s all I can seem to do….Not very thrilling, but very necessary I also like to go to museums, paint, and read during breaks.

HC UCLA: If you were going to be stuck in an elevator for an entire day who would you want to be in the elevator with you? (Can be a fictional character, a celebrity, etc.)
MM: Hands down, JK Rowling.

HC UCLA: If you were stuck on a desert island what would be 4 things you’d want to have with you?
MM: My dog, paper, a pen, and a magic wand.

HC UCLA: If you woke up one day and were transported to a fictional world what world would you want that to be?
MM: The magical world of Harry Potter

HC UCLA: Favorite article of clothing?
MM: My favorite article of clothing would be a sweatshirt. Comfort is my main  game.

HC UCLA: TV show or movie you cannot get enough?
MM: I will watch Pride and Prejudice for forever and a day. But the British TV series Sherlock is almost always on my mind as well.

HC UCLA: Somewhere you’d love to live?
MM: I would like to live on a boat and then sail around to different places as I please.

Madeline Hunt is a senior at UCLA majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish. Originally from the laidback beach-town of Santa Barbara, the California native finds the fast-paced nature and eccentricity of LA extremely exciting. Once more, she decided to expand her horizons when she studied abroad this past fall in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Madeline wants to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and is considering broadcast journalism and public relations as potential options. On campus, she is currently the Public Relations & Marketing Director for the student- run organization Fashion and Student Trends and an intern at E! News. She served as an entertainment reporter on UCLA’s accredited student newspaper, The Daily Bruin, under the video division and is a current member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. During her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, exercising, going to the beach, shopping (online shopping will be the death of her!), reading Glamour and Cosmo, eating Mexican food and sushi, spending time with her friends, practicing her Spanish, and satisfying her weakness for caffeine with Starbuck’s lattes.
