The Britanys are an up-and-coming rock band from New York. The four-piece released their mix-tape, 1-833-IDK-HTBA, last October. This title came from wanting to find a line between technology and humanity. I had the pleasure of speaking with Steele about the bands mix-tape and some of his favorite things about being in The Britanys. One thing I thought that was great is they are trying to bridge the gap between fan and artist.
When I asked Steele why, he said “whenever we have met people that are way further along than us, you know you hang out with them and you just realize, oh, they’re people. People have an idea about people in the limelight.” It is so easy to think about famous people as being on a different level than everyone else, but like Steele said, at the end of the day, they are just people. I had such a great conversation with him, and he made me feel like I was just talking to one of my friends. If you haven’t heard of The Britanys before now, check out all their music! They really ROCK. Start with their new music video for “Under Neon Lights,” which was JUST released. Share and comment what you think!

Here are my top 5 favorite moments from this music video!Â
1) The CaptionÂ
Before you even watch the video, read the information underneath. It may not make sense now why they are apologizing to Abba, Blake Shelton, Demi Lovato, and some other artists. But it’s worth the read before you watch the video. It will make sense later I promise.Â
2) The FBI Warning Label
Now, you’ve started watching the video and this FBI wanring label comes on. You know like those “Do Not Duplicate” warnings you used to see on VHS tapes before the movie started? This is exactly that except this is warning you about how many times this video was copied over something else. Â
3) The Director’s NotesÂ
Throughout the video, little captions appear in different places on the screen. Sometimes they say f*ck. Other times there is a joke about firing the director. But mostly these little captions add a sense of humor to the video and make it seem revealing. Which I think is cool because you don’t really get that kind of inside view usually.Â
4) $10 If You’ve Made it this FarÂ
Towards the end of the video, we are told we get $10 for making it to the end. I’ll be waiting for my check in the mail. K, thanks.Â
5) Under Neon Lights
The actual song itself, duh! I love the style The Britanys have. They are raw and exciting and this song is genius! One of my favorite lines from the song is “Don’t have much of anything, I think too much about everything.” This is from the beginning but I think it is so relatable, and can be relevant to a lot of different situations.Â
All in all, I love this video and the music and I can’t wait to see what comes next!Â
