We don’t need a new year to roll around for us to start setting goals. Though, in my experience at least, it’s a great way to get the wheels turning. Returning to school and work after a break, January always kickstarts me towards reevaluation; how am I going to fill these next 365 days?Â
Needless to say, I’m a fan of setting resolutions. I like to mentally categorize my goals, in hopes of creating some sense of balance (if I didn’t, my goals would be only academic related every year). If you’re feeling stumped trying to brainstorm what you hope to accomplish this year, look no further. For some inspiration, here’s my complete (and categorized) list of 2024 resolutions:
Academics
- Reach my goal LSAT score
-
Starting off with a doozie. I’m pursuing law school which means *gasp* I’m taking the LSAT this year. I have a particular score in mind and I’m not resting until I reach it. If you need me, I’ll be drilling on 7Sage (if you know, you know).Â
Hobbies
- Crochet a clothing item
-
If you’ve read this article, you might know I’m an avid crocheter. Up until now, I’ve made smaller projects (keychains, plushies, coasters). This year, I want to up my game and make something slightly more practical. I’d love to crochet a sweater or top of some kind.Â
- Read 12 books
-
I make this my goal every year and unfortunately, I usually fail. I’m telling myself that this year is gonna be my year and I’ll finally read a book per month. I’m kicking it off with The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and I’m already hooked.Â
Fitness
- Hit 200 lifetime spin classes
-
It was always hard for me to not lose interest in exercise until I discovered spin. I’ve never stuck with anything else for this long and nothing else keeps me as entertained and excited. The apps for the studios I go to give me totals of how many rides I’ve done. This year, I want to hit 200 lifetime rides (a number I never thought I’d see when I wanted to give up after my first class).Â
Finances
- Save up money to travel again
-
In 2023, my sister and I went on our first international trip without the rest of our family, and it was honestly life changing. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to value experiences a whole lot more than material things. In 2024, I want to keep saving money so I can travel again and have more of these experiences.
Silly stuff
- Get barricade concert tickets
-
We are all entitled to a silly goal this year and this is mine. You may have pieced together from my articles that I’m a concert fan. I’ve been to countless shows, but I’ve never gotten that coveted barricade spot in the front row. Maybe this year will be my year. Honestly, it doesn’t even have to be the first row, but maybe the first five? Consider this my manifestation for good NCT 127 tickets.Â
P.S., when setting your goals, write them down in your notes app! It’s so important to have something tangible to look back on throughout the year. Good luck in 2024! New year, same you, just a more accomplished version.
