Once December hits, Christmas-y themed things start seeping into pretty much all aspects of my life (my coffee orders, music, candles, etc). While we don’t get snow here in Los Angeles, we can absolutely channel the holiday vibes in other ways. If you’re looking to get in the festive spirit (and take a break from those dreaded exams and papers), I have the itinerary for you! Here’s what my perfect holiday-themed day in Los Angeles looks like:
Stop 1: Coffee
I start everyday with coffee but today, we are giving it a holiday twist. Stop at a coffee shop of your choice to grab a fun themed drink (tea, matcha, or hot chocolate works too). If you need some ideas, here are some suggestions:
- Dunkin Donuts – Spiced Cookie Iced Coffee (I’m hooked on this right now)
- La La Land Kind – Sugar Cookie Latte (They have an entire new holiday menu if you want something different; plus, there’s one at our next stop!)
- Alfred – Holiday menu
I always need to have a fun little drink in hand when I’m on my outings, so I think this step is a must.
Stop 2: The Grove
I’m The Grove’s #1 fan year round, but it’s even better during the holiday season. It’s decked out in Christmas decorations and the weather in December is always perfect for just walking around. If possible, stop by in the evening so you can see the lights and the fake snow falling.
If you need to pick up any presents, this is a great place to do it. If not, The Grove is one of my favorite places to just browse and hang out.
Stop 3: Target
We will be spending the rest of the day having a cozy night in, so we need to pick up the essentials at Target. Grab some cookies to bake (you can’t go wrong with the classic Pillsbury sugar cookies). If you don’t have one already, get a fun holiday candle – for vibes, of course. Lastly, this is totally extra and optional, but I love using some kind of holiday scented body wash or lotion. Right now, I’m using the Dove sugar cookie-scented body wash.
Stop 4: Night-In At Home
After all that, it’s time to crash at home. Set the vibes so it feels super cozy (light the candle, turn on mood lighting, etc). Take a shower and change into your comfiest PJs. Pop the cookies in the oven and get a Christmas movie going on the TV. My personal go-to’s every year are:
- Christmas with the Kranks
- Home Alone
- The Santa Clause
And that’s it, my perfect fun, festive, Christmas-themed day. While it’s fairly simple, that’s kinda what the holidays are about to me. Nothing beats just enjoying the little things and savoring the holiday season. Merry Christmas!
