New Girl is my #1 comfort show. If I could only watch one show for the rest of my life, it would be this. I never truly understood why I found so much comfort in rewatching the show front to back until I was talking to my cousin who also found herself doing the same. Turns out there is an influx of people who rewatch New Girl over and over again because it’s their comfort show.
I am an avid show-watcher and I binge shows like there is no tomorrow, and still have yet to watch a show that lives up to the bar that New Girl has set. Each character is so lovable and distinguishable in their own way, and the more you get to know them, the more you love them. From their personalities, humor, quirks, and interactions, you truly can’t help but get attached to each character the more you watch the show.
The chemistry you feel through the screen is undeniable. I constantly forget they are even acting, and nothing ever feels forced or fake, which makes me more attached to the show. The show is extremely relatable, not in a cliche kind of way, but more so in a heart-warming and comforting kind of way. New Girl tackles topics like heartbreak, moving out, family, deaths and more in a light that makes you feel understood and relieved. The show can have you crying one second and dying from laughing the next.
This show is hilarious. I have never in my life genuinely laughed out loud at a show until I watched this. Each character is so funny in their own unique way, and bringing them all in one place is just pure art. There is no annoying backtracking of laughter either, which allows them to utilize the silence after lines which makes for beautiful delivery and timing.Â
There is truly nothing in this world that makes me feel exactly the way that New Girl makes me feel. It’s one of those shows that you could watch 20 times and still love every second of it. Every single person will find something to appreciate about this show because it caters to such a wide and diverse crowd. It is a show that leaves you feeling optimistic about the world, connected to everyone and overall less alone. I could watch this show in my lowest of low points and be filled with serotonin and hope in the world.
