It’s Halloween season and you know what that means. It’s time to whip out some creative costumes for Halloween parties and Instagram posts. Do you have a special someone you’d love to dress up with, but have no idea what to do for a costume? Look no further! Here are 10 costumes that you and your girlfriend/boyfriend/best friend can dress as this Halloween season.
1. Candace and Toni from Portlandia
This costume could easily be achieved at your local Goodwill. For each character you’ll need two long dresses; the older the better! Along with those, you will need some retro jackets that you may see your grandma wearing. To complete the look, you’ll also need Toni’s glasses and long wigs (grey and black). Once you have that, you are set! Now you’ll just have to master the sass and get the catchphrases down. My terms!

2. Coraline and Wybie from Coraline
For Coraline there are three staple pieces you’d need to complete your look. You’ll need a yellow raincoat, boots, and blue hair. The blue hair can be achieved with a wig or blue hair spray. Other accessories such as a butterfly pin would only make the look more authentic. For Wybie, his signature pieces include leather gloves and a black trench coat with silver stripes, which can be easily be achieved with silver tape. If you’d like to make your costume a bit more scary, paint some buttons over your eyelids.

3. Sam and Suzy from Moonrise Kingdom
Because Sam is Boy Scout, you’ll need to find a tan short-sleeve button up, tan shorts, knee high socks, thick black glasses, a yellow bandana, and finally, his Davy Crockett Cap. It would add to the look if you added some patches of some kind. Here is a link of some patches you can print out. For Suzy, her look consists of a pink long-sleeved dress with a white collar, white knee high socks, and binoculars. Lastly, add some blue eyeshadow to complete the look. Be sure to get some quotes from the movie to really sell your character. Truly embody the young lovers fleeing their small town.

4. Bob Ross and His Painting from The Joy of Painting
Bob Ross and his paintings have always been a huge part of meme culture. You can bring that vision to life! When it comes to Bob Ross, you’ll need his signature blue long-sleeve button up, fluffy hair, thick beard, and paint pallette. Where is his painting you ask? Well, it’s your partner. Simply have them wear black, cut a hole in a canvas, and stick their head in it. All there is left to do is blend their face into the painting. Wallah, there is your beautiful costume duo. It doesn’t have to be perfect because as Bob Ross always said, “we don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.”

5. Juno and Paulie from Juno
This costume has been recycled since its release in 2007, yet it never gets old. For Juno, you’ll need an orange striped tee along with a plaid skirt over jeans and a zip up jacket. Tying your hair up is also a must for this costume. For Paulie, you’ll need yellow sweatbands, bright yellow shorts, a burgundy shirt, and striped knee high socks. For the shirt, be sure to print the school logo and tape it on your shirt to complete the look. And remember to find the macaroni to your cheese.

6. Napoleon and Deb or Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite
Napoleon Dynamite has so many iconic characters that is may be hard to choose just one. For Napoleon, you will need his signature fro wig, square glasses, Vote for Pedro shirt, and black boots. For Deb, you’ll need a long sleeve under a pink tee, a fanny pack, along with your hair tied into a side pony. For Pedro, you’ll also need a Vote For Pedro shirt with a black shaggy wig and bushy mustache. Be sure to practice his voice and dance moves. Also, you need to be ready to go off about your favorite animal, the liger, or your lazy llama Tina.

7. Alex and Piper from Orange is the New Black
The cutest incarcerated couple on Netflix. Though this couple may have a lot of issues on their own, you won’t have any issues achieving their looks this Halloween. For both characters, you will need tan scrubs, white t-shirts, and a wig. Black for Alex and Blonde for Piper. When it comes to Alex, you can add some temporary tattoos on your arms and a pair of signature glasses. If you have the time, it’d be great to touch to add a prison identification badge to really authenticate the costume. Here are some printouts for Alex and Piper.

8. Kim Possible and Shego from Kim Possible
Believe it or not, there is a lot of Kim and Shego fanfic out there. You could bring this fantasy to life. For Kim, you’ll need some army green pants (the more pockets the better), a brown belt, a black fanny pack, and black cropped long sleeve. A red wig would complete the look. Also, be ready to whip out your flip phone to say, “what’s the sitch?” For Shego, it’s a bit more complicated because it isn’t the easiest DIY. You can find her suit online, but it is possible to make yourself. Lastly, do not forget a black wig and black boots!

9. Victor and Emily from The Corpse Bride
Though this costume is the most intricate on the list, it is by far one of the cutest. Both would require face paint. Victor would require white paint with black shadowing, while Emily would need blue paint with dark blue shadows. It’s important to exaggerate features such as eyelashes, eyebrows, and cheekbones. For Victor’s costume, he’d need a dark suit with a white button up under. His hair would need to be slicked back and darkened. Emily’s costume would include a white dress resembling a wedding dress, a blue wig, veil, and a bouquet. It would be a good touch to match the flowers to your skin color. Both of their outfits could be found at a Goodwill near you if you take time to look for them. Finish the look with wedding rings and this costume will be sure to take people’s breath away.

10. Eleven and Mike from Stranger Things
Stranger Things always dominates every Halloween season, but for good reason. Dressing up as Eleven and Mike this Halloween is a costume that will get you compliments all night. Eleven’s costume includes a pink dress with a white collar, a short blond wig, knee night socks with green stripes, and a box of eggos. You can find her dress for very cheap online. Also, add some fake blood under one of your nostrils to complete the look. When it comes to Mike’s costume, it will consist of normal ‘80s boy attire. This includes a long sleeve striped shirt, a tan golf jacket, and blue jeans. If you could add some additional ‘80s accessories, do so! Bringing along a bike as an accessory would be the perfect touch to his costume.
