Name: David Love
Year: 2nd
From: Murrieta, CA
Major: Economics and Accounting
Relationship Status: In a relationship
Campus Involvement: I am currently an employee of the UCSB Rec Cen. In my spare time I participate in experiments for the Economics and Psychology departments, and as soon as my schedule allows it I look to become a member of the Accounting Association.
Her Campus: What are your favorite things to do in Isla Vista?
David: There are so many great things to do around IV, but my favorite thing far and away is just to skate. Whether it’s at the skate park with friends or just cruising around, I’ve always loved skateboarding. It’s a great way to distance myself from the more stressful times that can come with being a student here.
HC: What is your favorite food?
D: It’s gotta be Indian food. I couldn’t stand it when I was younger, but I’ve definitely come full circle, and it’s become a personal favorite for sure.
HC: Tell us an embarrassing story about yourself?
D: Very early in the year last year back in the dorms I locked myself out of my room after a shower. Trooping all the way up to the front desk in a towel to pick up a temporary key definitely wasn’t how I was looking to meet a lot of my hall mates, but what can you do? I guess you could say it broke the ice.
HC: Describe yourself in 3 words:
D: Positive, mild-mannered, sensible.
HC: What is your idea of a perfect date?
D: Something very simple, that allows for a lot of interaction. I’ve never been a fan of say going to the movies on dates; my perfect date would probably involve doing something physical, maybe going on a hike, playing some soccer, messing around on a tennis court, whatever really. Then after wrap it up with a nice quiet dinner. And if I could somehow squeeze in watching some Spongebob together then I would lose my mind.
HC: What qualities do you look for in a girl?
D: I look for a girl with a lot of balance in her life. Someone who’s driven, and likes focusing on school, but can cut loose on the weekends and just enjoy time away. Also coming from a very small town with little to do, I’m really taken with girls that simply appreciate time spent together, even if it’s not doing much. I’m all for going out and doing some sweet activities, but sometimes the best time spent together really can be doing nothing at all.
HC: What turns you off about a girl?
D: I guess citing my previous answer, on the other hand imbalance can be a bit of a turn off for me. I’m very passionate about school, and I love being able to discuss what I’m learning, as well as hear about other disciplines. However, at the same time I know many of my favorite memories that will forever stay with me when once I’ve left here will be of my time spent out on the weekends. And I’d love to share in those moments with a girl. To wrap this up, while it’s not necessarily a must, it’s not ideal when I see a girl that’s too focused in on one or the other.
HC: Blondes or Brunettes?
D: Brunettes.
