Effortless Dead/Finals Week Fashion

The time has come where the sweats come out and our hairs goes up. Dead and Finals week have approached us. These two weeks are one of the most dreaded weeks for UCSB students. This is when many of us feel that we don’t have time to look presentable due to our lack of sleep and countless hours of studying; however, there are quick and easy ways to look stylish, yet super comfortable during this time of year!

 

1.  Colored Pants

Switching out your regular blue jeans with some fun colored bottoms will not only make you stand out, but it is a great staple piece for the spring and summer time. It is something that brings a pop of color during this gloomy time of the school year and makes you look like you put a lot more effort into your clothes than you actually did.

 

2. Utility Jacket

Putting a utility jacket over anything you wear will instantly give a boring outfit some life. This is also a great way to keep you warm during those long study sessions in the library.

TIP: Pair the utility jacket with colored jeans and you’re good to go!

 

3. Jogger Pants

The definition of jogger pants can be described in two words—fashionable sweats. These pants have been seen on runways and celebrities. You can wear them to sleep and roll out of bed with these on and head to your 8am final and look great!

 

4. Statement Jewelry

Accessorizing an outfit can become tedious and time consuming. But by pairing your plain white shirt and denim pants with one statement piece can pull together an entire outfit and you don’t have to worry about having to layer necklaces and bracelets.

 

5. Boots

Though many of us are attached to wearing flip-flops everyday, changing it up by pairing an outfit with a pair of nice boots will elevate your outfit. Boots give an outfit color and structure. Pairing boots with leggings or yoga pants will make you look like you put in effort into your outfit, even though you just rolled out of bed.

 

 

6. Dresses

The easiest and simplest outfit of all is wearing a dress. You don’t have to worry about putting together a top and bottom. Throwing on any dress will make you look presentable and effortless.

Rachel is a senior at UC Santa Barbara and studies Communication and Global Peace and Security. Rachel is from a small, beautiful town in southern California called Palos Verdes. However, Palos Verdes is just one of the many places Rachel has lived. Rachel spent her childhood moving and traveling all over the world, living in places such as Indianapolis, Indiana; Santiago, Chile; Vienna, Austria; and Orlando, Florida. Rachel has found her heart and her home in California, choosing to spend her college years in sunny Santa Barbara. However, Rachel continued her wanderlust when she studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain in Fall 2012. At UCSB, Rachel is an immensely dedicated and involved member of her sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma, where she held the positions of Panhellenic Delegate, Inter-Greek Counselor, Rho Gam, and a member of the Nominating Slate. Best Buddies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is a passion of Rachel's, as she is their Social Media Coordinator as well as an active and proud member. As a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honors Society, Rachel is able to implement her prowess and affinity for communication and communication-related issues. When Rachel is not writing, participating in Kappa events, or volunteering, you can find her in the gym, on the soccer field, watching Modern Family, or cooking. Rachel's love for sports, food, and writing often times go hand-in-hand, as one may see in her weekly blogs. For the past two summers, Rachel has been freelance writing for the Los Angeles Times, and hopes to continue her career pursuit of journalism after she graduates. Rachel is elated to be a part of Her Campus's fabulous team and loves every moment of it!
