Fashion Fit for Finals: Library Chic

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSB chapter.

It’s finals time again and we all know what that means—stress, sleepless nights, and the go-to article of clothing, sweats. Many of us are too spent from long, caffeine fueled study sessions to worry about putting together an outfit. However, there are a few simple tricks to take you from a straggly looking student to a high-end, high achiever.?

Of course, we don’t want to completely throw out the sweats option. They can become a quintessential base to creating a fabulous outfit. Start with a basic t-shirt and pair of form-fitting sweats. Throw on a pair of boots, a comfy cardigan, and a scarf and you’ve got a socially acceptable outfit that doesn’t scream that you just got out of bed.

?Another way around the sweats issue is a sneaky one – jeggings! A great pair of jeggings can look like a pair of jeans, but feel like a pair of sweats. This can be a great alternative to baggy, pajama type bottoms. Another type of jegging that is super fashion-forward right now and comfortable is the leather jegging. They look edgy while you are comfortable to sit through a three-hour test.

?A really fashionable alternative to sweats is the maxi skirt or dress. It’s such a comfortable and easy piece to put on. Grab a jean jacket, a belt, and a stack of bangles and you’ll have the perfect outfit to get a good grade.?

A main objective of finals is fitting enough sleep into a crazy study schedule. To ensure that you’re outfits don’t detract from those precious minutes of sleep in the morning, plan them out ahead of time. Lay out your outfit on your desk so that when you wake up you don’t have to think twice about what you are wearing. Wash your hair the night before and braid it so it has a nice wavy look to it. Treat yourself the night before and grab a teabag, not simply for drinking, but for de-puffing sleep deprived eyes too! Soak it in warm water for two minutes then cool down and place over your eyes. After a few minutes remove them. You’ll be fresh and ready to conquer the world the next morning.?

One time-consuming step in any morning routine is washing one’s hair. Getting into the shower can suck away twenty minutes from an already restricted routine. Two solutions for that: You can use a dry shampoo to lift oils from your roots. Lift your roots and spray directly into hair, wait a minute then brush through. A great brand of dry shampoo is Bumble and Bumble. Another option to cover dirty hair is to throw on a beanie. Such an easy option and super cute too!

?If you’re dressed well, you feel better about yourself and your confidence will increase. This in turn should help you achieve your goals and ace those finals. Don’t look like you just rolled out of bed and showed up for the final. Look like the kind of girl who’s going to earn those good grades and is confident in herself!
