HC: Tell us about your clothing line.
Savasia: We are WORTHYOPP. Apparel, a unisex streetwear clothing brand that promotes the idea of owning your self-worth & using it to overcome anything in life. We believe confidence is key & important to remember when you’re going through any rough time so you have the power to conquer it. We are based out of Antioch, CA and are slowly reaching our customer demographic to Isla Vista. We aim to inspire anyone in our clothing that you can be a Worthy Opponent to anything that stands in the way of your success.
HC: What has inspired you and keeps you going?
Savasia: In high school I took Japanese for 4 years and was fascinated about the culture. I knew I always wanted to do something that involved helping people & with my efficiency at Photoshop I decided to design clothes that involved my fascination with the Japanese culture. That’s when I came up with the samurai mask with a gold tooth as the logo, I thought to put a streetwear spin on it. What keeps me going is the passion I have for creating clothes that carry a powerful message and I hope to have it spread worldwide.
HC: What are your ultimate goals?
Savasia: I ultimately want to create a separate line within WORTHYOPP., similar to the Toms Shoes organization, where every purchase you make you can donate a shirt to homeless shelters and/or families in impoverished communities. I aim to use my brand to reach out to the people of this world — whether it’s helping the homeless or trying to end poverty, I believe in the social responsibility we have to help each other out.
HC: Challenges you’ve faced thus far?
Savasia: I’d say my biggest challenge so far is balancing school, work and my brand. Being a full-time student leaves me with barely any time to work on my brand and to get my promotion out there. Even though it’s difficult for me now, I’m far from being discouraged as I plan on doing whatever it takes to maintain my dream.
HC: Why should people support your brand?
Savasia: I believe people should support WORTHYOPP. Apparel because we’re not just any clothing brand — we strive to impact communities through positive reinforcement, donating to charities and involving ourselves with the hands-on help the world needs. Supporting us would mean supporting progressive social change in this country & hopefully worldwide. Even though we’re a small brand at the moment, our goals are big enough to make a difference.
HC: If anyone wants a shirt, how do they order one?
Savasia: If anyone wants a shirt, feel free to purchase one online at worthyopp.com! If you live in Isla Vista, shoot me a message and I’ll sell you a shirt with no shipping fee. We also just dropped our first Fall Collection releases online, go check ’em out!
