Local Breweries To Grab A Beer At

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSB chapter.

If you like beer and want to expand your horizons or are just looking for a good time, going to a brewery is great!  Lucky for us here at UCSB, there are several local breweries right in our backyard.  Here is a list of a few that should be on your list to visit:

1. Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company

Fig’s brewing company is a lively place on the weekends! I recently visited here on a rainy day thinking that no one would be out drinking but to my surprise, it was packed!  We had to wait five minutes just to get in the door.  I got the tasting flight and every single beer was delicious!  Around 8:00, a live band came to play.  They have live music Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.  This place is definitely a favorite for locals.  I will be going back as soon as possible!

2. Telegraph Brewing Company

Telegraph Brewing Company is smaller than Figueroa, but it also has a nice atmosphere.  There’s tables to sit at and games to play, like darts.  Just around the corner, you can see the big barrels of beer where all the magic happens!  The room is open, half inside and outside, so this place is perfect to go to on a nice, sunny day.

3. Pure Order Brewing Company

Pure Order is much like Telegraph in its size and atmosphere.  They have the same options for buying beer, as can be seen in the picture.  Plus, they have a cute little sea lion on their logo!

I haven’t experienced these next three breweries personally, but they are on my list to visit.

4. Santa Barbara Brewing Company

5. Hollister Brewing Company

6. Captain Fatty’s Brewing Company

Siobhán is a fourth year English major at UCSB. She is originally from the Bay Area and still misses hearing "hella" on the daily. She loves the ocean, photography/ film, music, and good eats (especially burritos). In her free time, she likes to obsessively watch Netflix, watch the sunset, and experiment with new recipes in the kitchen! You can see what she is up to on her instagram @swetzelll.
Kirby is a recent graduate from UCSB currently living in Los Angeles. As a proud Her Campus UCSB alum, she's happy to be back on the HC team covering one of her fave shows: "The Mindy Project." On any given day you can find her with her nose in a book (let's be real - it's a Kindle). In her free time, she likes petting dogs, binge-watching TV, and eating a lot of food. Find her on Instagram: @kirbynicoleb or @GirlBossEats.
