Fashion trends come and go, and then some come back again.

There are trends, like shoulder pads, which would do best to remain in the era from which they came.

(Sorry, Princess D.)

But there are other trends, like the pixie cut, that are iconic.

Here’s a history spiel:

In the 1920s, flappers began sporting the short-cropped hairstyle to rebel against dominant standards of beauty.

These ladies were also known for participating in other unladylike trends like voting, dancing and drinking liquor.

In the 1950s, Audrey Hepburn worked this hairdo in Roman Holiday.

Despite Audrey Hepburn’s adorable good looks, she received some hater criticsm about her hairstyle.

The pixie cut style further dwindled in popularity in the 1960s and 1970s, with the onset of the hippie movement.

And we can’t forget about the luscious, large hair of the 1980s.

But let’s come back to 2014, shall we? And admire the ladies who are bringing back the pixie cut.

We must start with the Queen B, Beyonce.

Beyonce shocked the press when she cut her hair at the end of last year but she was like “I woke up like this.” Flawless.

J-Law, the golden child of Hollywood, also cropped her golden locks, and looks fabulous.

And we can’t forget about our favorite lady Gryffindor, Emma Watson. Although I adored Hermione Granger’s unruly looking tresses, I think this hairstyle is better suited for the fashionable cover-girl Watson has become.

Let’s hear from the readers. What do you all think about the uprising pixie cut trend?
