If you have been following the show Euphoria, then you probably know all about its boundary-breaking makeup. Head makeup artist, Doniella Davy, discusses the shift from season oneā€™s makeup due to the changes in the way the show was filmed but also because this season was about character development as opposed to last season’s character backgrounds. With the change in filming, the director, Sam Levinson, insisted on less face make-up, specifically no powder or foundation, which led to a more natural approach for this season.
Face:
Face Atelier Ultra Foundation Pro $38
Chantecaille Future Skin Gel $79
Vita Liberata Beauty Blur Skin Optimizer $38.99
Vaseline Petroleum Jelly $3.39
Davy told Allure that because of Levinson’s request for no foundation, they needed to get creative with what products they could use. This meant that instead of a full face with powder, the artists opted for concealer or one of the foundations listed above mixed with moisturizer to give a more subtle look. The Nanoblur primer was heavily relied on to give a smoothing effect to the actors’ skin. It was also noted that Rue’s character had the least amount of makeup and would often wear Vaseline to create the appearance of dewy skin.
Eyes:
Laura Mercier Caviar Volume Panoramic Mascara $26
Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette $29
Makeup For Ever Starlit Powder $21
The makeup team strayed away from chunky glitter in favor of more refined eye looks using simple rhinestones, fine glitter, and thinner, sharper wings.
Lips:
The makeup on this season has become more of a reflection into each character’s true emotions and thoughts. Despite the shift towards more subtle looks, we see the character Lexi Howard show more of herself and her perspective. Lexi’s red lip is a staple for this season and it is none other than Mac’s Ruby Woo.
