- What inspired you to join Her Campus?
I had never written for a women run magazine before, but I did have experience with my high school newspaper. Unfortunately, it was definitely not the type of journalism I wanted to pursue, especially because our opinions were often censored and directed towards what was supposed to be published. I am excited to work with Her Campus in order to be able to use my voice and speak about topics I am passionate about.
- Â Who or what inspires you?
Ever since I was a child, I have been inspired by both of my immigrant parents. I am forever grateful for their sacrifice to bring us all here from the Philippines, and I will make sure this opportunity is not wasted. I am also inspired by strong women like Jackie Aina and Halsey who use their platforms to share not only art that they create, but raise awareness for social justice.
- If you were to travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to go to Bali, Indonesia or Mykonos, Greece. As of now, those two destinations are tied for number one on my list.
- Current songs in your (study) playlist?
My boyfriend and I make a playlist for every season, and I normally listen to it while studying. For fall, some of my favorite songs included in the playlist are Tenenbaum by The Paper Kites, River by Leon Bridges, and Welcome Home by Radical Face.
- What is something you would like to be better at?
I would love to be better at cooking or baking— I was gifted Antoni Porowski’s (from Queer Eye) cookbook and I would love to get kickstarted on cooking. It is an art that I am not well versed in, but is something very essential to life.
- If you could have any job at all, regardless of school or training, what would you choose?
If I were to have any job, I would love to be a Creative Director and a model. Unfortunately, I am on the side of average height so modeling is a difficult career to pursue. But if I could use my ideas in photoshoots and simultaneously be the model, I would be living my dream. Oddly enough, part of me would also love to study space and be an astronomer (haha). I simply cannot decide between all the careers I’d love to have in this short time on Earth.
- Who is your style icon?
My style icons would include Bella Hadid and Audrey Rivet. I am also very fond of Orion Carloto’s style but I would say it doesn’t really reflect how I currently dress.
