It is often quite daunting to find and plan that perfect first date that will leave your partner speechless and coming back for more. It can be equally stressful planning an anniversary with your partner, especially if you feel like you have been everywhere there is to go.

This article includes a list of 8 great date night ideas in and around Cape Town that will ease that burden of finding and planning that perfect date night.

Watching a movie beneath the stars at the Galileo Open Air Cinema.

A perfect idea for a date night is sitting side-by-side with your potential significant other and watching a great RomCom or Disney Classic. The movies follow a schedule, so check the website out first before arriving at the venue.

You are welcome to take your own picnic basket and blankets, but they do have blankets, pillows and back rests for hire, and incredible food stalls!

Sunset Boat Ride at the V&A Waterfront

The V&A Waterfront offers so many activities you could do with your date, but taking a quick 30 minute trip around the V&A’s harbour is not something that everyone chooses to do regularly or has even done before.

Bring your own coffee or champagne and enjoy the V&A Waterfront from a different angle.

Sundowners ANYWHERE!

Anywhere in Cape Town with a bar and great view is always a great idea for a date night. Think about the Camps Bay stretch like Cafe Caprice or Tigers Milk or Muizenberg beach front with Primi and Live Bait.

Cocktails, wine, beers you name it, these places have it. Choose a bar or restaurant that offers your date’s favorite drink. You don’t want to arrive at a place only to find out they like NOTHING on the menu… it can be a real mood killer.

Dress code: Semi-formal

Putt-Putt

Whether you go to Sea Point or Muizenberg, Putt-Putt is always a great and fun way to get to know your date better. After your game of putt-putt you can go grab an ice-cream or a cup of coffee and if all goes well maybe even dinner?

Dress code: Comfy and warm. Bring a jacket incase of wind.

Wine Tasting

Where do I start?

There is the Constantia Route, the Stellenbosch Route and the Durbanville Hills Wine Route.

Where ever you decide to go please use Uber or have a friend be the designated driver, even your parents if they are in town. Just do not drive drunk, kids!

There are not just wines you can try out. Often wine estates offer a cheese or nougat pairing with their wine… I mean could this get any better?

Dress code: Casual to semi-formal.
