Hello, collegiettes! Welcome back to another semester at UF, or if this is your first semester, welcome to the Gator Nation. My name is Ellen, and I have taken over the Budget Busting blog this semester. I’m a third-year journalism major from Miami, and I love shopping and finding good books for a steal. I hope to teach you ladies some new tricks to help you save money without sacrificing your happiness.Â
Some of the things I’ll be covering this semester will include: what items to save money on and when it’s time to splurge, where to find the cutest clothes for every occasion without breaking the bank, how to save money when you’re dating or in a long-term relationship, how to spend as little as possible but still get tons of groceries, and much more. To sum it up: I will make sure you have endless ways to save money in all areas of your life.
To get things started, you should come up with at least one goal for the semester where you will save some money to put towards something you really want or need. It can be anything — a new purse or paying off student loans. The possibilities are endless.
You’re probably wondering what my goal is in this experience. My goal is to save up enough money to buy a decent car by the end of the semester while still paying for all my bills, including some student loans I’ve accumulated. Sounds tough, right? It is, but I know if I stick to my goal, I will be so happy in the end!
I hope that as the semester goes on, you ladies will keep your wallets and bank accounts filled with tips I give you in the future. Here’s to saving money, not spending it!
