Conquer the Season in Style: Spring’s Top 5 Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

From bright-white jeans to mini-dresses, this is what you’ll be wearing this spring. Here’s how designers at New York’s Spring Fashion Week did it, and how you can, too.

1. Patterned Up

Oscar de la Renta, Rodarte, and Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B spring collections included fun and bright patterns that definitely make a statement this season. Extend the trend to patterned bags or even patterned shoes!

2. Color-Blocked

You can make your look pop with a single bright piece or mix-and-match two or more colors to catch some attention. Peter Som’s show definitely caught attention with his use of blocks of bright hues. Calvin Klein and Michael Kors went for one single hue that still packed a punch.

3. White It Out

Joseph Altuzarra and Carolina Herrera brightened the catwalk at Spring Fashion Week as their models strutted the designers’ collection that included lots of white. You can do it to with a pair of bright-white denim jeans. Spring-cleaning never felt better!

4. Sheer Thing

Catch some air with this spring must-have. Layer it over your swimsuit so that is purposely peeks through. Jason Wu’s spring collection included flowy and sheer tops, as seen here. Marc Jacobs’s collection also included airy tops fit for the season.

 5. Go Tribal

Also seen on the runways in New York for Spring Fashion Week were tribal prints. Diane von Furstenberg, Derek Lam, Gregory Parkinson and Timo Weiland all added a tribal effect to their collections for spring, making it a staple this season. But it doesn’t stop at clothes. Don’t be afraid to add a tribal feel to your outfit with accessories. Strands of beads and chunky colorful bracelets will give your spring outfits a bohemian touch.
