Hello Collegiettes!
I hope you’re all getting excited for spring break! If you’re like me, though, your focus and determination (when it comes to schoolwork, anyway) kind of diminishes around this time every year. That’s why this week’s craft is one that’ll help you stay on top of all the things you need to get done before you can go play on the beach for a week.
You’re going to need small canvases or something similar (¾ the canvases limit) you can put your pushpins in since there’s only about a square inch of space in the center where there isn’t wood supporting the canvas. Simply a frame of wood or a piece of square Styrofoam would work perfectly, as well.
Glue your canvases together and cut out a piece of fabric that’s slightly larger than the two of them. Begin folding the fabric over and gluing it down.
When you get to the ends, treat them like a Christmas present. Fold the sides into the center, making a point, and glue it down.
Next, you’re going to want to get your cardboard letters ready. I just glued the very bottoms of mine to the top of the bulletin board so that I’d have plenty of room to pin stuff on later. As always, it’s up to you how you want yours to look so if you like your letters on the bottom or even in the middle, go for it!
The ribbon that comes next is used to hang your bulletin board up once you’re done. I folded a portion of ribbon that was about two feet long in half so I could find the center point, and then I began gluing it on the bottom and sides of the bulletin board. Tie it in a double knot and a bow once you’re done, and you’ve got a cute way to hang it basically anywhere!
Finally, it’s time to add embellishments (i.e: the best part). I used some flowers left over from a wreath I’d made for the spring. I cut them off of their vine and used hot glue to adhere them to the bottom of the bulletin board.
I think another cute idea would be to glue small flowers to pushpins so they match the rest of the design. Use your creativity and make some adorable, purposeful crafts, Collegiettes! Good luck with the final push before spring break!
XOXO,
The Crafty Gator
