It’s the middle of college football season, and the action is just heating up. Naturally, many of us collegiettes love football, and we love looking good while watching the games. It’s always a challenge on gameday to show off our orange and blue school spirit while still looking cute and fashionable.
Many girls like to pair shorts and shirts together that show off school spirit at the games. Others like to pair dresses with jewelry to put a more fancy spin on football gameday wear. But instead of purely focusing on our outfits, why not show a little lovin’ to our nails? Your nails are a great asset to show off school spirit and be creative while doing it. Read on to learn how to create some Florida Gators-themed nails that are perfect for any sporting event!
1. Keep it simple with solid colorsThis one is the easiest option. Simply grab some orange and blue nail polish in the correct shades, and paint each nail a solid color. You can be creative while you do this. Maybe have one hand with orange nails while the other hand has blue nails. Or rotate between the orange and the blue, using a different color on each finger. Personally, I like to paint each nail orange except for the ring finger on each hand; I leave these fingers blue to make them pop!
2. Add some writingThis one is a little tricky. Paint your nail a solid orange and let it dry. Then take your blue nail polish and write a letter on your nail. You could spell out “GATOR” with a letter on each nail. I personally like to put an “F” for Florida on one of my nails. You can still use a regular nail polish brush as long as you do not put too much polish on the brush beforehand. But if you want this to turn out perfect, it might be easier to invest in some nail polish pens.
3. Try a French manicureTake a look at a Florida Gators’ take on the French manicure! The easiest way to do this style is to begin by painting your nail a solid orange and letting it dry. Then, very carefully, trace along the top of your nail with blue nail polish. You want this line of polish to be pretty thin, as only about 1/6 of the nail should be blue to truly make it similar to a French manicure.Â
4. Go for half blue and half orangeYou can be creative with this one. Paint your nail a solid orange, let it dry, and then paint half of the nail blue. You can do this diagonally, so you have two right triangles on your nail, or you can also paint the opposite color vertically or horizontally so you have two rectangles.
These are simple, cute nail styles that can be done with just two shades of nail polish and regular nail polish brushes. There are tons of other designs to choose from as well, so don’t be afraid to get creative! The important thing to remember is the more school spirit, the better. Go Gators!
