Entertainment10 is back and packed with celebrity news. This week was filled with ups and downs for Hollywood, as a reality star aimed to break the Internet, a celebrity couple seemingly broke up again and a beloved MTV star’s long battle with cancer came to an end. Here is this week’s Entertainment10.
1. Kim Kardashian West tries to “break the Internet” with her bare derrière. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star covered Paper magazine in a completely nude shoot by French photographer Jean-Paul Goude. The magazine also features full frontal photos of Kardashian West in all of her naked glory. In the magazine, the reality star is additionally photographed recreating Goude’s 1976 portrait, “Carolina Beaumont,” which shows her balancing a champagne glass on her butt.
2. Kardashian West’s nude shoot was so big (no pun intended), she needed two E10 updates. Although her goal was to “break the Internet,” the reality star sent it into more of a frenzy for the public and celebrities alike. Glee star Naya Rivera’s comment on her photo shoot seemed to be just as controversial as the nude photos themselves. The comment was fairly short, but it nevertheless made quite the splash. Rivera wrote in a comment on Instagram, “I normally don’t. But… you’re someone’s mother…” Kardashian West’s BFF, Jonathan Cheban, was quick to defend his bestie as he took to his blog to “dish” on the comment. “I’m personally disgusted that after badgering Kim all year and trying to hang out and do business together, she goes and tries to make a statement like this,” he wrote. “Who the f*ck is Naya to throw in her meaningless comments??…We all know you want to be Kim, but you don’t got it boo, and the only cover you will be gracing is the Single White Female 2 straight to DVD box set.”
3. Diem Brown dies age 32. The MTV star, who is best known for her role on Real World/Road Rules Challenge, passed away at 10:22 a.m. Friday. Brown first battled ovarian cancer in 2003, and in 2012, she overcame her second stint with the disease. Most recently, Brown was diagnosed with colon cancer. It was during this battle that doctors discovered a blockage in her kidneys, which set back her chemotherapy. Brown’s health then took a turn for the worse. The reality star’s close friend and E! News correspondent, Alicia Quarles, said, “She went surrounded by people she loved, her rosaries, pictures of her friends… [It was] a beautiful day out. She fought to the end. And that’s how she would want to be remembered. She’s a fighter.”
4. Rihanna visits the White House. Channeling Olivia Pope herself, the Barbadian beauty posted Instagram photos of her day at the White House. The visit was more business than pleasure. She met with administration officials about how she could play a role in President Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative. When TMZ caught up with her following the visit, they asked what her favorite part of her visit was, and she responded, “My president being black.”
5. Johnny Depp’s speech gets cut short at a Hollywood award show. Depp exhibited bizarre and, to some, alarming behavior as he stumbled, slurred and cursed his way through a strange intro for Shep Gordon’s documentary Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon, which was being honored at the show. After Depp began his monologue by saying, “This is the weirdest microphone I’ve ever seen,” it all seemed to go downhill as he broke away from the teleprompter’s script. Things seemed to take a turn so much so that CBS cut away to a shot of California’s hills during his speech.
6. Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger are a thing? After being spotted playing tonsil hockey on the sidelines of Southern Cal’s Thursday night football game, the twosome seemed to be a little bit more than friends. Speculation on their “status” has been swirling for weeks, with date nights and relationship rumors surrounding them. Additionally, the night before the smooching session, Schwarzenegger and Cyrus were seen embracing each other outside a screening of the new film Still Alice, where some of Schwarzenegger’s family was in tow. According to E! News, the young couple, who have been friends for years, are “having fun” and seeing where things go.
7. Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are over, yet again? The Jelena drama continues as Justin Bieber unfollowed his on-again-off-again girlfriend on Instagram this week. The two, who seemingly reconciled their differences following their Paris Fashion Week trip, are once again at odds. All of this is following the release of Selena’s music video for “The Heart Wants What It Wants,” which she revealed was about her relationship with Bieber. In the video, Gomez shares with the world a vulnerable recording of her breaking down over Bieber and discussing her insecurities as well as how the relationship has affected her. Since the video was released and the unfollowing occurred, Bieber has since posted a video of him with Kendall Jenner.
8. Kelly Rowland releases a new song following the birth of her son. Just days after Rowland welcomed her first child, Titan Jewell, into the world, the “Motivation” singer released a lullaby entitled “Mommy’s Little Baby” in honor of her firstborn. “I have been completely on a high getting to know my son Titan. I’m so in love!” Rowland told Essence magazine. She continued that she “could look at [Titan] 24 hours a day.” Rowland’s loving emotions are echoed in her new song as she sings “I’ve waited all my life, all my life, to see ya, I’ve been dreaming, dreaming about you.”
9. Solange Knowles is officially off the market. Beyoncé’s little sister said, “I do” to longtime boyfriend Alan Ferguson in New Orleans on Sunday. The songstress married video director Ferguson in front of about 200 family and friends, according to People magazine. In attendance were Knowles sister Beyoncé, niece Blue Ivy and even brother-in-law Jay-Z, whose attendance was in question after the highly publicized elevator brawl that occurred this summer. This is the second marriage for Knowles, as she married ex-husband Daniel Smith, who fathered her 10-year-old son Daniel Julez, in 2004.
10. Nicki Minaj faces backlash following the release of her “Only” lyric video. After the release, immediate outrage ensued as the video featured Nazi-like imagery. The animated lyric video depicted Minaj as a dictator with the color scheme of the Nazi Party. The video also showed a Young Money logo that looked similar to a swastika. After its release and backlash, Minaj took to Twitter, where she took “full responsibility” for the video’s possibly offensive content, saying, “I didn’t come up w/the concept, but I’m very sorry & take full responsibility if it has offended anyone. I’d never condone Nazism in my art.”
With that, another Entertainment10 is in the books. Thanks for reading, collegiettes. See you all next week!Â
