Fitness with Finesse: Five Songs to Sweat in the Holiday Spirit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Happy December Her Campus ladies! With Christmas and the New Year’s festivities right around the corner, there is no better time to finish the year strong with a healthier lifestyle. No, this doesn’t mean sacrificing all of your eggnog and running faster than reindeer can fly. There are so many ways you can embrace the holiday spirit while staying on track to reach your fitness goals. Sleigh the rest of your workouts in 2016 with the following holiday song suggestions below.

If you are doing cardio:

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey

If she can hit those high notes, you can hit those reps of high knees. Get pumped to this song’s upbeat tempo and festive lyrics. This song will definitely keep you at a perfect pace for a run.

If you are cooling down:

“Under the Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber

Take a deep breath and do your Vinyasa to this smooth-flowing beat. This song is perfect to stretch to after a tough workout.

If you are doing yoga:

“Silent Night” by Pentatonix

All is calm, and all is bright. Find your Zen to the soothing voices of the a capella group, Pentatonix.

If you are doing Pilates:

“This Christmas” by Chris Brown

Tone your muscles to this fabulous tune sung by Chris Brown. There is nothing like a little R&B to help you complete each rep slowly and effectively.

If you are weight training:

“Christmas in Harlem” by Kanye West, Prynce Cy Hi, and Teyana Taylor

You know what they say… “Grab a cup of coffee, throw on some rap, and handle it!” Push through those bicep curls to the perfect blend of hip hop and holiday vibes. With Kanye West in the background, you’re bound to get stronger. (See what I did there?)

I hope these jams help you have the most holly jolly workout season ever! The holidays are all about giving, so do not forget that investing in your health is the most rewarding gift you can give yourself.
