Gator Glam: How to Style One Dress For Every Holiday Occasion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

It seems the further we enter the holiday season, the more jam packed our calendars get with fun and festive events. Now, that doesn’t mean you have to run out and buy a new outfit for every special occasion. Instead, this is the chance to show off your styling skills by using the right accessories to make one piece look brand new multiple times. Let’s start off with a simple but beautiful red dress, and see how we can style this holiday season staple for three different occasions.

1. Office party

For something a little more formal and conservative like a party for work or an internship, keep things simple but not boring. Throw on a patterned cardigan like the one above, and use a thin belt of your choice to cinch you in at the smallest part of your body. I completed the look with a comfortable pair of gold, holographic flats, so you won’t have to worry about having to leave the party early because of aching feet.

2. Glam night out

If you’re off to a more glamorous occasion like a cocktail party, this is the time to really show off your creativity and personality through your choice of accessories. I decided to go for a more edgy look by adding a faux leather jacket and matching black booties. To keep warm, you can slip on tights underneath your dress, and top it all off with an eye-catching statement necklace.

3. Cozy family get-together

You’ll probably already have enough to worry about, from answering all your nosy aunt’s questions to dealing with your prankster cousin’s antics, so don’t let your outfit become another headache during your time with family. Keep things comfortable with a cozy sweater or cardigan, and choose a pair of flat or low-heeled booties to finish off the look. Add a hint of shine and interest to your outfit with a simple piece of jewelry like a necklace or stud earrings.

Hopefully, this list gave you some inspiration to not only save money, but also create luggage space for the trip back home this Winter Break! Don’t forget to stay warm, be safe and look fabulous, collegiettes!
