It’s hard to believe it’s already October! Whether this is your first or last year in college, you should have Halloween spirit filling the air of your home. Check out these five quick and easy DIY Halloween projects that you’ll enjoy making and displaying around your apartment:

1. Pumpkin Calendar
Counting down the days until the 31st? Make it fabulous with a painted pumpkin countdown. Paint a pumpkin entirely with black chalk paint. Once it has dried, write with your chalk the number of days left until Halloween. As each day passes, change the number. It’s an adorable decoration and a great reminder for the rest of your friends to get excited that there are only “X” amount of days until one of the best holidays of the year.

2. Decorative Wine Bottles
Put those empty wine bottles to good use! Paint wine bottles in solid colors like the picture above, and add cute faces. You can leave it as basic as the picture or be as creative as you’d like. The best part about this DIY is that you can recycle these items when you’re done.

3. Halloween Hand
All you need is clear disposable gloves and candy of your choice! Fill the gloves with goodies, and tie it with decorative ribbon. Add crinkle paper shreds to fill out the fingers for the hands. Instead of candy, feel free to fill gloves with popcorn; and if you want to be really corny, add a nice Halloween note!

4. Pumpkin Cooler
Are you having people over? This is probably one of the cutest ways to chill your bottled drinks. Cut the top part of the pumpkin, and make sure you clean out the inside really well. Insert a plastic bowl like the one you see in the picture, pour ice inside, and BAM! You have an instant chilling pumpkin! If you want to kick it up a notch, get your creative juices flowing and personalize the outside of the pumpkin.

5. Crawling spider ice cubes
This is one of the easiest projects to make! Just fill up ice trays with plastic spiders (you can find bags of these at the dollar store). Instead of using water to fill the trays, substitute it with orange juice. Once the trays are frozen, fill yourself a cup with Sprite and a few of the crawling spider cubes. This makes a delicious sherbet-like flavored drink. Not only is this delicious, but it’s also a pretty neat drink decoration.
