He’s So Not Worth It

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

It’s been a week since he found out you liked him. Since then, he hasn’t responded to any of your texts, tweets or Facebook messages. He must be too busy with school or work to respond, right?

Wrong.

Fortunately for you, there are plenty of other fish in the sea. Your collegiette life is too short to worry about that one guy when there are so many single hotties surrounding you on campus.

So stop staring at your phone! Instead, embrace the single life while befriending the single guys who seem to be interested in just your friendship (you have to start somewhere).

Before making yourself available to the campus cuties, follow these steps to ensure you erase the guy you like completely from your mind.

1. Delete, Delete, Delete
While deleting him from your Facebook or Twitter is not the most mature move to make, it sure beats stalking his wall or his tweets. He’ll probably think you were silly for deleting him if he notices you’re no longer friends, but he doesn’t like you, so what does it matter? All you should worry about is that he won’t constantly pop up on your feed with random statuses like “off to the gym to get big.”

While you’re at it, delete his number. You’re not planning on texting him after realizing he hasn’t replied to you, so there’s no use in saving a number you don’t plan to call or text.

2. Hang out with your girlfriends
There’s nothing like being surrounded by your girlfriends to take your mind off that guy. Go out to dinner to catch up on the latest gossip, and top the night off by going to a club and meeting guys on the dance floor. Make sure you’re dressed to impress, and bring the confidence to mingle with the singles.

Guys will be doing a double-take on your sexy style, and in no time, you’ll be dancing with one too many. Maybe at the end of the night, you’ll be saving a guy’s number on your phone that’s actually worth texting.

3. Go shopping
Retail therapy. Shopping is a sure way to make you forget about what’s-his-face. You will be intently focused on finding clothes that make you look fabulous, and you won’t have to worry about impressing him with whatever clothes you choose to buy.

While shopping may only take him off your mind for only a short while, the outfit you model in front of your closet mirror will remind you how great you look. Cute little black dress and beige pumps for your next date – check.

4. Words of wisdom from Taylor Swift
She’s constantly singing about falling in love, so you’re probably wondering why Taylor Swift made it onto this how-to-forget-about-him list. Listen to “Picture to Burn,” in which Swift sings about getting over a guy by burning all of the pictures with the two of them together. So feel free to blast this song on YouTube and rock out. The only regret you’ll have is how you ever wasted your time thinking about him.

Hola! My name is Victoria and it is a pleasure to meet you. I was born and raised in Key West, Fla. Surprisingly; people do actually live there. I'm a fourth year journalism student at the University of Florida, and I am obsessed with food. I watch ungodly amounts of the Food Network. I love to dance, write and swim to my hearts content. I don't know what I would do without my Crackberry and listening to the Silversun Pickups makes me sane.
