I’ve been obsessed with makeup for as long as I can remember, and I’ve poured over YouTube beauty tutorials since the days of my dial up internet (rip).
There are often trending “challenges” and I thought that I’d give my shot at one. I bought all my items at Walmart to prepare for the challenge.
Products I used:
Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Single in Brulee
Maybelline New York Great Lash Washable Mascara
Wet n Wild Color Icon Kohl Eyeliner, Simma Brown Now
COVERGIRL Clean Sensitive Liquid Foundation
Wet n Wild Coverall Pressed Powder
Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick
My grand total of cost in store was $19.47.
There’s a lot of pick and choose when deciding what to buy when you’re trying to stay within in a specific budget. I started this excited and with high hopes.
It’s important to note that the Covergirl foundation says it’s for sensitive skin. When I applied the foundation, I felt like it was extremely heavy and it felt made my pores look larger. The lightest shade still was too dark for skin. It blended a little better after I used the Wet n Wild powder atop it, but ultimately my skin wasn’t looking great.
When I got out the e.l.f. blush, I thought the color was pretty and I had hope, as I’ve used some of their products before. It shook up in its container pretty quickly, but wasn’t horrible on the skin.
The Wet n Wild eyeliner went on well, and I liked the color of it. The eyeshadow, although light, went on nicely and I felt could potentially stay on for a while if I would’ve had some sort of primer.
The Maybelline mascara, a product highly praised for drugstore makeup, works well enough. It’s not my mascara of choice, but I’d definitely use it again. As a lipstick fanatic, I wasn’t crazy about the formula of the Wet n Wild lipstick, but I liked the color and the variety they offered.
The final face:
Last thoughts:
The Good: Wet N Wild eyeliner, Maybelline mascara
The Decent: e.l.f. blush, Wet n Wild eyeshadow, Wet n Wild lipstick
The Horrible: Wet n Wild powder, Covergirl foundation.
In the end it all boils down to what you feel comfortable with using. As someone with very sensitive skin, I can’t say I’d recommend using facial products that are extremely heavy and difficult to take off. If anything, it’s fun to see what you can do with your $20!
