New Year, New Trend: Eye-Catching Bright Colors

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Tired of wearing your typical neutrals and dark winter colors? Then this 2013 trend is definitely for you.

Bright colors.

People always say spring is the time for pastels and subtle hues, but this season is all about the brights. Heat things up with a bright red or orange ensemble like the one pictured above, or cool things down with an eye-catching green or blue. This red-hot hue has been seen on designer Michael Kors’ latest collections. If you want to stand out and make a style statement this spring, this trend is the perfect way to do it.

From a collegiette’s point of view, this look is fun and fabulous. Whether you’re rocking a bold colored dress, or a bright top with jeans, this look will not blend into the background. The look is very versatile, too. You can rock it day or night!

Riyana Lalani, pictured above on the right, is a sophomore civil engineering major at UF. Her red top demonstrates the bright-colored trend perfectly.

“I love wearing bold colors because they make me feel brighter and happy.,” she said. “Plus, I think they look better with my skin tone.”

Sarah Colunga, pictured above on the left, also shows us why this bright blue hue is trending in 2013. “When I wear brighter colors, I feel like my hair and skin color pop more,” the senior UF nursing major said. “If I wear a lot of browns and grays, it dulls me out a lot.”

So, there you have it ladies. Put your subtle tones and boring neutrals in the back of your closet, because this spring, it’s all about being BOLD and BRIGHT.
