Oh, Rainesville: Find the Perfect Rainy Day Shoes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

In Gainesville, when it rains, it floods. You’re standing at the bus stop admiring those oh-so-fabulous dark clouds, and all of a sudden, you’re being attacked by cold droplets of rain. To make matters worse, the rain creates obstacle courses all over campus. So what does every fashionista need in her closet on a day like this? Rain boots.

The Attention-Grabbing Rain Boots
You all know what we’re talking about. These are rain boots that are bright, colorful and difficult to coordinate outfits with. You’ve probably seen rain boots with pictures of the Eiffel Tower, Hello Kitty and large blue whales. Wearers of these boots understand that if you’re going to wear a rain boot, you might as well make it the main attraction.

We spotted Sammy Block rocking her attention-grabbing Burberry Rain boots in the residence halls. This public relations and general business major got the coveted boots as a graduation present and would definitely recommend them to a friend.

The Neutral Rain Boots
These boots easily match anything and everything. Although some of them may have patterns, they don’t scream for attention. We saw a lot of blacks, greens and even a sparkly silver pair of boots on campus. Fashionistas who sport this trend understand that sometimes less is more.

Diana Jacobson was spotted wearing a pair of patterned black and white boots. They were quite shiny and even had teal detailing — so cute. The second-year journalism major said when it comes to her style, comfort is key.

The Not-So-Rainy Rain Boots
Sometimes the most fashionable rain boots are actually just leather boots. They’re tall, taper to your leg and repel rain. We saw a lot of brown and black leather boots that looked comfortable and versatile. Girls who wear this boot know that sometimes you just have to improvise.

Graduate student Esther Benchimol was seen by Library West wearing brown leather boots from DSW. She said that the boots are amazing and can be worn in so many ways. Esther admitted that she hates rainy days but loves UF.

Hola! My name is Victoria and it is a pleasure to meet you. I was born and raised in Key West, Fla. Surprisingly; people do actually live there. I'm a fourth year journalism student at the University of Florida, and I am obsessed with food. I watch ungodly amounts of the Food Network. I love to dance, write and swim to my hearts content. I don't know what I would do without my Crackberry and listening to the Silversun Pickups makes me sane.
