With under 80 days left of spring semester, it’s that time of the year when seniors get particularly antsy and anxious. I’d never quite understood the “senior spring” phenomenon until now; I feel like I’m constantly searching for jobs while still attempting to participate in extracurriculars and do (some) schoolwork. There’s also the surmounting pressure to maximize the little time at UF I have left.
These are all the feelings of senior spring rolled up into one.
When someone asks what your post graduation plans are and you don’t know how to respond.
Whenever you stay in and feel like you should be making the most out of your time left.
Realizing that shortly, free food, drinks and T-shirts will no longer be a thing in the real world.
Bracing yourself with coffee for everything that needs to get done in the coming months.
That eye-opening feeling when you check your email after a weekend of avoiding it.
After someone asks if you’re excited to graduate.
When you’re hungry and stressed, but mainly hungry.
Pretending like you have your life together to the acquaintances who ask.
Your response to hearing there’s free snacks in the plaza.
In class like…
When your phone is still blowing up with messages from your group project.
When you remember that you won’t have to do anymore homework…
…but also that you’re going to be separated from your best friends and your home of the last four years.
To my fellow seniors: let’s make this semester last.
