Barbie is an icon for women in leadership and who want to excel in their careers. She’s done a bit of everything, so she’s no stranger to the trials and tribulations of trying to be a powerful figure in her career. Even though she is just a doll, her legacy is one that can inspire career-driven women and remind us that if Barbie can do it, so can we. As we get back into the swing of things this semester, let Barbie be your reminder that your career choices can be bold and successful even in the face of challenges. So if you need some inspiration, here’s a list of the majors as Barbie dolls. Keep on reading to see what Barbie looked like when she was chasing the same goal as you:
Elementary Education
The Barbie Teacher Doll features a classic blonde Barbie figure with a tidy updo. They dressed her in a plaid dress with the alphabet on it to stick with the theme. She comes with a cute little easel displaying some basic animals. Along with the easel, you can add on a preschool student doll who comes with a mini desk!
Agriculture
For the down-to-earth ag majors, Farmer Barbie is your match! This auburn doll comes with a chicken coop and a wicker basket. She has on some stylish red rain boots and daisy dukes. The chickens and chicks that come with this doll are arguably the best part here.
Nursing
Another classic Barbie here, but this time with her RN. Nurse Barbie looks adorable in pink and blue scrubs while having the timeless Barbie look. The purple stethoscope adds to the look and brings the STEM major slay together.
Journalism
The communications major girlies are one of the petite Barbies dressed in a little pink dress. She comes with a camera as well because every news report obviously has to be photographed. This particular Barbie is technically Pet Photographer Barbie, but I think she’s the perfect fit for the journalism girls.
Dentistry
For the girls who have a five-step oral hygiene routine, this one’s for you: Dentist Barbie. This version of Dentist Barbie is technically Skipper (Barbie’s younger sister, for those who may not know) but she also comes in a classic Barbie version. She’s equipped with glasses and a toothbrush and comes with a dentist office playset. The playset includes a chair and patient as well as a station for all of Dr. Barbie’s dental tools.
Business
Our go-getter business girls get one of the decade dolls from the 80s. The Rewind Barbie comes in very ‘80s-style business attire. But of course since it’s Barbie, it has to be pink! She also comes with a pink telephone and a pink argyle briefcase that matches her skirt.
Music
For the ladies who can jam out on the guitar all day, you get Pop Star Barbie. Pop Star Barbie has her own little stage and microphone stand to perform on, as well as a pink guitar. She’s dressed up in pink heels and a pink dress with some matching sunglasses. The best part of Pop Star Barbie, though, is certainly her hair. She comes in a half-up half-down hairstyle with the cutest pink highlights!
Marine Biology
Last but not least, Marine Biologist Barbie is equipped with a suitcase full of diving gear including flippers, a mask, a net, a microscope and an underwater camera. The playset also includes some fish for to swim with. They put her in a pink swimsuit with a green rash guard over top to complete the look.
This is, of course, not an all-encompassing list of all of Barbie’s many careers. If you’re curious about all of the jobs she’s had since the 1960s or want to find your career that wasn’t listed, BuzzFeed writer Alexa Lisitza created an exhaustive list of her careers of the years. Remember that Barbie has done it all, and so can you! We wish you the best of luck this semester and to keep your dreams high just like Barbie.
