20 Shows to Cozy Up to This Fall Instead of a Man

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

It’s that time of the season again y’all. There’s a chill in the air and according to certain girlies on the internet hot girl summer is over and it’s officially cuffing season. I am here to encourage you that cuffing season isn’t all the rage and sometimes cozying up with a good series is better and less stressful than a man because you can get all the enjoyment you need. So, here are 20 shows I recommend cozying up to this Fall!

1. sex in the city (+ all the movies & reboots) | HBO

This show is a classic and a girl’s girl time of a binge-watch. You will probably love and hate each character at some point during the series. What I love most about this show is the growth that each character has as they get older and the relatability of their storylines. A lot of the scenarios that were tackled when the show first aired in the ’90s are still relevant in culture and dating today. Seeing how Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charolette navigate life, career, and dating is like getting a peek from the “cool aunties”.

2. gossip girl (+ Gossip girl reboot) | Netflix & HBO

This show is an absolute rewatch for me. It has motivated my blogging so much! Gossip Girl is about privileged teenagers living in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. They are documented by a mysterious blogger that goes by the name of Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl lives for the scandals that rock these teens’ lives and thrives on reporting every drop of gossip told. I know you will love it! -XOXO Gossip Girl

3. Living single | HBO

This show is about six friends navigating dating, careers, and a progressing world together in New York during the ’90s. It is full of witty humor, celebrity cameos, and powerful themes of the era that are still currently happening.

4. The Umbrella Academy | Netflix

This show is about a family of misfit orphans who have superpowers and are adopted by an eccentric billionaire. All the characters in the show are relatable in some way. They will suck you into their dysfunctional family episode after episode.

5. Avatar: The Last Airbender | Netflix

Avatar: The Last Airbender was one of my childhood cartoon obsessions! My family and I binged this show back in the day, and we did it again once it was released on Netflix. I might even rewatch it because the themes and messages of this show are indeed life lessons. This show is a must-see!!

6.SWEET MAGNOLIAS | Netflix

Sweet Magnolias is a delightful southern show that I binged while traveling solo in Savannah a few months ago. This show is all about long-lasting friendships and strong community support. It’s very wholesome and has an easy-to-follow plotline.

7. Little Fires Everywhere | Hulu

Little Fires Everywhere is a show based on the best-selling novel by Celeste Ng about two families whose lives are intertwined because of their children. The families are forever changed when their matriarchs are forced to come to terms with their past decisions. The acting and storylines are exceptional and goals for my future endeavors.

8. Game of Thrones | hbo

Games of Thrones is a complex show about two families engaging in a lethal game of wealth and power to control the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The different families soon find out that their true enemy isn’t each other but what’s lurking just beyond the wall. Just remember Winter Is Coming!

9. Bob’s Burgers | Hulu

Bob’s Burger is a hilarious adult cartoon. This show is about a family running a burger restaurant while surviving what life throws at them. My little brother recommended me this show, and I am obsessed. Tina and Louise are easily my favorite characters.

10. mETEOR garden | Netflix

This series is a teen show about a high-achieving girl at her dream school who clashes with the popular boy clique. This show is not as basic as I am making it seem. The more episodes you watch, the better the plotline gets. This series makes me want to travel and plan destinations for when quarantine is over!

11. The Bold Type | Hulu

The Bold Type is a show about three best friends navigating young adult life in New York City while trying to discover themselves in the process.

12. Good Girls | Netflix

13. Friday night lights | Netflix

Back at it again with another dose of “Clear eyes and full hearts”. Another repeat! Friday Night Lights is timeless family entertainment. It’s a movie-turned-TV show that revolves around a Texas town and its love for football.

14. The nanny | HBO

The Nanny is about a fast-talking fashionable woman who’s fired by her boyfriend at a bridal boutique. As she’s going door to door selling cosmetics, she accidentally gets employed as a nanny. The witty series documents the growth of the Sheffield household as they mold to the customs of Fran and maneuver life without the late Mrs. Sheffield.

15. Survivor | Hulu & Netflix

Survivor is a reality game show that documents everyday people lying, outplaying, outmaneuvering, and outwitting each other to get 1 million dollars. As the seasons have gone on and the show’s prizes and fanbase have grown, the series has become even more competitive and binge-worthy.
