I recently started watching the new Netflix show Love is Blind where a group of men and women go on completely blind dates with one another. The dates occur in pods that prevent the couples from seeing each other. Couples who form strong bonds get engaged and then test their physical relationship. They then return to the “real world” and reach the final test of seeing if they go through with the wedding. The idea is to see if love is really blind. If you like a show that is filled with drama, I definitely recommend it. Here are a few of the thoughts I had while watching Love is Blind. Warning: spoilers ahead!
- How can a couple say “I love you” after a few days?
-
Don’t get me wrong — I love Lauren and Cameron, but they were the first to say I love you and the first to get engaged in around a week’s time. The idea of being in love with someone in such a short amount of time is unfathomable to me. However, I’m still absolutely thrilled for the now-married couple. Lauren and Cameron have the best relationship on the show and they’re a fan favorite for a reason.
- Jessica and Mark’s relationship should not have lasted for as long as it did.
-
The two of them lasting through the ninth episode is insane. There have been so many points in the show where Jessica was about to leave Mark. She can’t let go of the connection she had with Barnett and has even gone as far as to almost confess her love for him. Jessica is not attracted to Mark and continues to come up with excuses for why they don’t belong together (like the age gap that no one else cares about). Mark deserves better. As bad as I felt for him when he got rejected at the altar, it’s going to save him a lot of pain in the long term.
- I feel bad for Barnett, but happy for the couple.
-
At the start of the show, I did not like Barnett. He struggled to choose between three women and, overall, he did not come off well in the situation. However, since then, he has been nothing but loyal to Amber even with Jessica being fairly obvious about her feelings for him. Amber has now told him about her debt and that she is unemployed by choice. She is putting a lot of pressure on him to be the complete financial provider and that would be stressful for anyone. However, they both seemed extremely happy at the wedding and I hope they remain that way.
- Giannina has insane energy.
-
I love Giannina’s energy. She is a little wild, and sometimes it goes too far. She could definitely benefit from a partner who is calmer than her. However, I’m not sure Damien is necessarily that person. He hasn’t been able to match or complement her energy in the right way. They have fought quite a bit, but each time they fight, they communicate and their relationship benefits from it. I think them not getting married was overall for the best because if they had, I imagine it would have ended in a pretty explosive divorce.
- Kelly and Kenny are kind of boring.
-
They really haven’t had much drama so their relationship has been put in the background. It wasn’t until the ninth episode where they revealed Kelly didn’t find Kenny that attractive. Their relationship had seemed stable up until that point. I feel bad for Kenny, and it was impressive how maturely he appeared to handle the rejection. As far as their relationship goes, I never really cared either way what happened.
- Why am I so invested in this?
-
Despite knowing the premise is absolutely ridiculous, I’ve been completely hooked on the show and couldn’t wait to see which couples went through with their marriages. I’m here for the drama and the small chance at the couples finding love!
You can catch the entire series on Netflix to see for yourself how everything unfolds between the couples.
