The beach is always a good time, but sometimes during the early weeks of spring it’s just too cold. People who don’t feel like battling the windy sand are venturing out to some different places. Here are some ideas for those of you saving your beach week for the summer:
Road Trip
Load up your car and your ipod and hit the road. Go somewhere you have always wanted to see; D.C., Nashville, the Grand Canyon, maybe even as far as California? It’s fun staying in different hotels every night. Be sure to make plenty of stops on the way for boiled peanuts and attractions on the side of the road, they can make for some good stories. And of course, make sure you’re spending all that time in the car with people you love!
Amusement Parks
We will never be too old for amusement parks. If you’re heading to Florida you can pay Mickey Mouse a visit at Disney, go to MGM, Busch Gardens, Epcot, or Universal. And if you’re still waiting for your letter to Hogwarts you can go ask why it’s taking so long at the new Harry Potter world! If you are staying in Georgia, Six Flags is the perfect choice! If you want to do something outside that’s fun where you can avoid the crowds and $7.00 Coca-Colas try climbing stone mountain and checking out all the attractions afterwards.
City
The city is exhilarating no matter how cold it is. Spending a few days in New York City seeing a show or just people watching is guaranteed to be the most fun you’ve ever had. If you’re ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Chicago hosts one of the best celebrations there is by dying the river green. Staying in Georgia? You can also check out a green river on St. Patty’s Day in Savannah if you want to take a short drive. And of course you could always hit up some awesome restaurants and stores in the ATL.
Skiing
If you have an adventurous side try embracing the cold by hitting the slopes. Breckinridge, Colorado or the much closer Asheville, North Carolina are both great places to ski or snowboard. Most hotels have heated pools and hot tubs so you can relax with hot chocolate after a long day out on the mountain.
Camping
For anyone who loves the simplicity of the outdoors, camping is a blast. If you have a super hot friend who sings and plays the guitar I recommend bringing him to add that emotional, we’re in a movie effect. Don’t forget smore’s supplies, tents and lanterns. There are some great locations not too far from Athens such as Fort Yargo State park and Helen, Ga.
How will you be spending your spring break this year?
