As the month of May rapidly approaches, students hustle to ace their finals, purchase their caps and gowns, and embrace their campus one last time. Before their departure into the world of snazzy suits, board meetings and, bulldawgless neighborhoods, seniors want to participate in as many opportunities UGA has to offer. Her Campus UGA polled this year’s graduation class; Here are the top five things on a 2012 graduating Bulldawg’s bucket list:
Â
1.Play checkers or chess on the picnic tables by Herty Field
Know more commonly as UGA’s first football field, Herty field serves as a Bulldawg playground. Overlooking beautiful fountains, Herty Field offers prime outdoor study spaces, beautiful scenery, and YES, permanent chess/checker tables. For those lazy Saturday afternoons, head down with a couple of friends to play a few rounds.
2. Go to a Concert at the Georgia Theatre
Located in a city that boasts an amazing music scene, UGA students are bound to experience the exciting music venues Athens offers. Don’t let the title fool you, Georgia Theatre offers anything but quiet films. This booming music venue attracts thousands of visitors and students each semester. So on a quiet Friday night, head downtown to crank the music up!
Â
3. Go to the observatory on top of the physics building
Remember that check you grudgingly write ever year to cover those “ambiguous” student fees? Well don’t fret, that money was well spent! UGA provides its students amazing resources of high quality, including the Observatory! UGA’s observatory frequently offers students the chance to view the night sky with a special telescopic eye.
4. Experience the dining hall one last time
To us first-year meal patrons, the Sunday Brunch Buffet is just another meal on the weekend. I can’t promise that we’ll be singing the same tune three years later when we’re scavenging the bottom of an empty Honey Nut Cheerios box for breakfast in our kitchens at Lakeside. Before graduation, some seniors would like to experience the luxury of having their meals cooked for them.
5. Eat ice cream from the creamery
UGA does not hesitate illustrate its prestige for self-sufficiency. The campus has its’ own bus system, its’ own fitness center, and even its’ own creamery. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, a creamery. So on a sweltering day, as Georgia is known to experience, head down to the creamery located in the Environmental Health Sciences building for a cool bulldawg treat.
