Oh, fall. The leaves are changing colors, the weather is cool, hot chocolate is popular again, the weekends are for football, and there’s a new Taylor Swift album to fall in love with. But not this year. It seems like Taylor is giving up her every-other-year fall album release. What’s fall without blasting new Taylor Swift music? Where is the joy in driving down the highway without the newest Swift ballad or bop ripping through your speakers?
But all hope is not lost! New rumors have circulated that Swift may be planning on dropping a surprise album, a la Beyonce. This would probably be a smart move for her, following her scandal with the Kanye-Kardashian clan. A surprise album would also detach the public from her recent romances with DJ Calvin Harris and actor Tom Hiddleston. Swift needs the masses to remember her work, not her personal life.
Swift remains one of the top-earning and most well-known artists in the world, so if she drops an album out of the blue, it’ll undoubtedly top the charts for weeks on end. Swift hasn’t performed since her last show of the “1989” tour, which was December 12th, 2015, in Melbourne, Australia. That means Swift hasn’t performed at all in 2016, but it was recently announced that she would perform at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Texas. This country-turned-pop princess has a smart head on her shoulders, and controls the majority of her career moves, so this has to be strategic somehow.
The last four of Swift’s five studio albums have released in October, with “Fearless” coming out in November. However, all of these albums had singles on the radio far earlier than their release date, and no new Taylor songs have hit the airwaves as of late. Swift’s next album, commonly called “TS6” by fans, should, given her history, be coming out this October. But there’s been no sneaky promotion, no television appearances, and no hints at new music from Swift. This would make the Formula 1 Grand Prix the perfect place for Swift to surprise the crowd with new songs and announce an album.
Only time will tell if T. Swizzle is really going to bless us with new music, but until then, we’re going to keep shaking it off.
