Summer is a carefree time filled with sun kissed skin, parties and endless relaxation. But before we know it, it’s August and that means the summer is coming to an end. But our adventures don’t have to end—the semester is starting, so there is plenty to be excited about.
1. Welcome Week = Free Stuff
Welcome Week is a nice way to get back into the thick of it. Lots of free stuff never hurt anybody, am I right?
2.All of the Organizations
All of the week’s events make heading back to campus way less stressful. Cat’s Back is a great event to look forward to during the fall semester because it gives students a new chance to get involved. You’ll have countless options to choose from. You can improve skills or find something new you are interested in. Either way, joining an organization only adds to your college experience and to that résumé.
3.Making Friends
You’ll have an opportunity to meet new people, and that’s always exciting. You’ll have new professors and new classes, and there could be a new cutie in one of them. Meeting new people is great and a new routine definitely keeps things interesting, but forget to catch up with your BFFs that went home for the summer.
4.Shopping
Who doesn’t love back-to-school shopping? I mean, sure, you’re buying sticky notes and pens because they’re school supplies, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be cute. Plus, you’ll have a chance to channel your inner interior decorator while setting up your dorm.
5.Football
The start of the fall semester means that tailgating and football season are in our not-too-distant future. School spirit and traditions make college sports a blast. Nothing says “let’s hold onto summer a little while longer” than a beer and a hot dog before the big game.
As much as we all wish summer beaches, roller coasters, vacations and Netflix binge-watching (“Stranger Things,” anyone?) were year-round—the start of school will bring a refreshing change of pace. Being back at school means we get back to using our brains, competing for dean’s list or that dream internship and being hardworking college students. So, let’s make the best of it because, if you’re a senior like me, it could be your last fall semester.
