Graduating senior Karla Acosta stays busy with her concentration in Hotel and Restaurant Management. When discussing her role as the assistant food safety specialist in the Fire Marshall’s office the excitement she conveys is contagious.   Â
She Intended on becoming a doctor majoring in biology, Â but wanted to start helping people as soon as possible.
“I knew I had a passion for helping others, but felt like the process of becoming a doctor would take years and countless nights of all-nighters before I actually got to help people.”
Once Acosta discovered the Hilton College she realized that no matter what the major you can make a difference.
Acosta’s efforts as a “health inspector” play a large role at UH.
“I want all students, faculty, and staff to know that there are several employees on campus, like myself, that work hard every day in preventing accidents from happening and contribute to ensure everyone’s safety.”   Â
When she is not busy with work and studies she enjoys getting involved with organizations on campus. Once Acosta steps outside of the university TED talks, YouTube videos, and staying up to date with all the best food around town is what preoccupies her time.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the passion Karla Acosta has. Her positive energy radiates because she loves what she does and hopes others on campus get to seek out whatever it is they love.
