1.Flooding devastates Louisiana
Heavy rains hit the Gulf Coast last week, flooding roughly 20 parishes in the state’s inland cities. Flood waters killed 13 people and damaged more than 60,000 homes. The Red Cross estimates that response and recovery efforts will total $30 million.
2.Frank Ocean finally drops the album
The singer-songwriter released the visual album “Endless” as well as his sophomore LP “Blonde” over the weekend. Ocean’s debut album, “Channel Orange,” was released four years ago. Both projects are available on iTunes and Apple Music.
3.Trump’s got a new campaign manager
After weeks of slipping poll numbers, lobbyist and political consultant Paul Manafort resigned from his position as Trump’s campaign manager last week. The job now belongs to pollster Kellyanne Conway. She is Trump’s third campaign manager.
4.The U.S. wins the Olympics
August 21 marked the end of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The U.S. brought home a total of 121 medals—46 of them gold
5.“Stranger Things” takes over the Internet
The Netflix original has taken social media by storm. The science fiction mystery follows the story of four boys and a telekinetic girl as they investigate the disappearance of a 12-year-old boy in rural Indiana.
