Out of all of my makeup, the one thing I spend the most money on would have to be concealer. Sometimes I’m alright going out with no eyeliner or lipstick, but I cannot bear the sight of the bags under my eyes. I’ve finally become fed up with it and have started looking into some DIY fixes to dark under eyes. Here are the ones that I’ve found to work best!

1. Cold Compress

Great for treating dark eyes and is simultaneously very relaxing. Soak a rag with cold water and wring it out, creating a nice, damp cloth. Lay the rag over your eyes for 5 minutes or longer. Use as often as desired, results will show after a couple of uses.

 2. Cucumber

There’s a reason movies show girls with eyes adorned in cucumber slices! Refrigerate a cucumber for at least an hour and cut into thick slices. Apply the slices to clean skin and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat before bed. Apply twice daily until results show.

3. Tea Bags

Beauty routine and refreshing iced tea in one go! Place two tea bags in cold water and allow to steep for 5 minutes or however long the tea bag states for iced tea. Squeeze the excess water out of the bags and place them in the freezer for 10 minutes or refrigerator for 20. Lay the bags over your eyes for 10-15 min then rinse. Repeat twice daily until results are visible.

4. Lemon Juice

Leaves skin smelling lovely, as well. Be careful! Do not continue use if irritation occurs, as lemon juice is acidic and can bother sensitive skin. Dampen cotton balls with lemon juice and lightly apply the juice to your under eyes. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse. Repeat once daily until results show.

5. Almond/Coconut Oil

Almond and coconut oil are both natural moisturizers. While almond oil is slightly sticky, coconut oil can be used as an all over facial moisturizer.  Before bed and upon waking up in the morning, lightly rub almond or coconut oil into the skin underneath the eyes. Repeat until results show.

6. Witch Hazel

While the smell is not so great, witch hazel leaves skin feeling like a baby’s and is great for reducing darkness under eyes. Soak cotton balls in witch hazel and apply to the under eyes for 10 minutes and pat dry. Repeat daily for best results.

7. Avocado

Slice up some avocado for a tasty veggie burger and beautiful eyes! Place a slice of avocado under each eye and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse off or pat in excess juice once finished. Repeat daily until results show.

8. Aloe Vera/Cucumber Juice

Personal favorite! Very cooling and works scarily fast. Chop up a cucumber and place it in a food processor. Strain the juice out of the cucumber pieces into a jar and mix it with PURE aloe vera. Lightly rub mixture under eyes every night and allow to air dry. Store in refrigerator.

And there you have my repertoire of DIY dark under eye cures. Go forth and beautify!
