Living in Chicago, we are lucky to have every type of food available to us in a matter of minutes. Around UIC, we are close to Greek Town, Little Italy, and other traditional “Chicago style” restaurants. Here are some restaurants that are delicious, affordable, and walking distance from campus!
Â
Joy Yee’s
Located on Halsted by JST, Joy Yee’s launches your appetite right when you walk in the door by having every different kind of fresh fruit on display. They have amazing smoothies in every flavor and combination, and mouth-watering Chinese and pan-Asian food that can satisfy everyone. I recommend the Pad Thai noodles and a mango peach tapioca smoothie, yum!
Â
Pompei
Located on Taylor Street in the hear t of little Italy, Pompei has a creative and scrumptious menu at a reasonable price. They make their noodles from scratch everyday to go in classic dishes like mostaccioli and spaghetti. They also have interesting dishes like the pizza strudel, which has ingredients from spinach to artichokes to feta cheese. If you have not been here, you must go!

De Pasada
Also on Taylor Street, De Pasada was famous for their burritos before Chipotle. They have a vast menu of traditional Mexican dishes which are all delicious and have a home-made taste to them. It is very inexpensive and worth the trip!
Â
Greek Islands
A little bit pricier and fancier than the rest, Greek Islands has the best traditional food in all of Greek town. Being Greek, some of their meals are better than my own families! The atmosphere and food is worth the few extra dollars, so grab your friends and try something you never have before. Opa!
