Welcome back from Spring break, everyone! A week off was much needed, especially after midterms. Coming back from break always throws me off schedule because my mind is not in the zone for school. So, if you’re like me and feeling a little unmotivated to do schoolwork or aren’t used to being back in class, then hopefully you will enjoy the following tips to make the rest of the semester go by as smoothly as possible.
1. Use a planner
Using a planner or some sort of journal to organize my day helps to make sure I accomplish daily tasks. This can include homework assignments and projects, as well as simple daily tasks like doing the laundry or washing the dishes. It is especially helpful if you tend to forget about events or deadlines. If you don’t like a physical journal, try a digital one and set up reminders on your phone, laptop, or other device. When feeling unmotivated after coming back from break, try to organize your daily schedule in a way that you can see and mark as done- because, let’s be honest, the most fun part about using a planner is crossing off everything you’ve accomplished.
2. Take notes in a way that benefits you
Anyone can copy words off of a slide that the teacher provides, but are you really learning anything that way? Don’t waste your time taking notes that won’t ultimately help you when the next test comes around. Instead, take effective notes that you can look back on before class or before a test and that will help you better understand the material. Work smarter, not harder, ladies. You got this.
3. Use your resources
You don’t have to struggle in class alone, there are numerous resources to turn towards. For example, if your class has a TA, don’t be scared to reach out and ask questions. The same goes for your professors and fellow classmates. If you’re having a hard time in class, chances are that someone else is as well. If you still need more help or additional study tools, turn to some helpful apps like Quizlet to prepare for quizzes and exams.
4. Chillax!
While it’s important to focus on your academics and make sure that you are completing all of your assignments, it’s also important to take some you-time. Set aside times in your day where you can just sit back and relax- watch a movie, read a book, play a game, take a nap, or hang out with friends. As the weather is beginning to warm up again, find some outdoor activities to destress.
