Everyone knows the successes of former Disney Mouseketeers Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. But it seems like today that the transition from Disney star to pop star has become very difficult and often, unrealistic.
Â
When a former Disney star tries to move towards the mainstream adult audience, their music usually turns out horribly or society just can’t take them seriously. However, there are some Disney products (like Britney, Christina, and Justin) that are able to get close to or completely remove their former company’s image.
Â
Here is a list of some Disney stars that actually have a good chance of running from the shadow of doom:
Â
1.    Miley Cyrus
Â
Â
So what if the general population does not care for Miley Cyrus? I’ve met plenty of older people that actually favor the former Disney star, including one I met at our Intel event this past Monday. We connected on our love of Miley’s song “Who Owns My Heart.” This darker, more club friendly track actually helped her rid of the Disney stain. It’s a great track that gives a glimmer of hope for her future. With more shocking antics, like simulating being on a stripper pole at an award show, Miley can easily transition for the adult audience.
Â
2.    Selena Gomez
Â
Â
Musically, Selena is a goddess. Her past two studio albums are actually very pop-radio friendly and more adult-like. I’ve heard plenty of people around my age belting out the dup-step like “Love You Like A Love Song.” Not to mention, dating Justin Bieber has given her more star status that will help her be remembered as this 19-year old ages.
Â
3.    Demi Lovato
Â
Â
Ms. Lovato has had a rough year after getting over her personal problems. As sad as her story is, it actually has helped her career advance. Lovato seems to be wiser and more of an adult and this has certainly reflected through her latest music. She has teamed up with more hip producers for her latest album, which has led to a more mature and current sound. The samples from her latest album show that Lovato may strike gold with this album (along with the right promotion,) and may have a shot at a long musical career.
