Lowkey Musicians Who Deserve A Lot of Love

People always seem to be in need of new music and sometimes it’s difficult to discover new artists when streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music let users customize their playlists and listen to what they want, when they want to. Other times, there just seems to be a drought of new music and musicians. Therefore, if you’re in need of new music or are looking to fall in love with new artists, here are a few “lowkey” musicians who deserve a lot of love. 

Sasha Sloan

Sasha Sloan is a singer-songwriter based in LA, California who in 2019 released some amazing tracks. If you’re a fan of indie pop or artists like Lana Del Rey, Halsey, and Troye Sivan, you should definitely give her music a listen. Most of her music contains relatable melancholic lyrics that are calming and comforting. Her most popular tracks are: “Dancing With Your Ghost,” “Older,” “Only,” “smiling when i die,” and “at least i look cool.” 

James Smith

You might’ve first heard of James Smith when he successfully auditioned for the UK’s X Factor with his unique cover of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.” While Smith did not win the competition that year, he did make it to the finale and has since released some amazing tracks. He recently released his EP, “An EP by James Smith.” The EP features four tracks titled: “Rely on Me,” “Say You’ll Stay,” “Hollow,” and a Bob Dylan cover of “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright.” You can also find acoustic versions of these songs on Spotify and YouTube. I particularly recommend Smith’s music if you’re a fan of the singer-songwriter, blues, and acoustic genres which have more recently been made popular by musicians like Ed Sheeran, James Bay, and Lewis Capaldi. Cesar Santalo

For fans of R&B, Cesar Santalo is a perfect new artist worth checking out. Besides R&B, Santalo also incorporates hip-hop and soul into his music, which makes for a unique sound. Santalo has a similar sound to artists such as Frank Ocean, ZAYN, and The Weeknd. Some of his most popular tracks are: “Purple,” “Super Fixer Upper,” “Jungle,” “Do You Try,” and “Happens.” 

New Hope Club 

New Hope Club is a British trio that formed in 2015 and is comprised of: Reece Bibby, Blake Richardson, and George Smith. Throughout the years, the trio has released several singles, EPs, and one album in 2020. They’re definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of pop and pop rock. They also give off boy band vibes so if you’re into those, give them a listen. They’re best tracks include:

Ruel

Ruel is a 17-year old singer-songwriter from Sydney who makes pop and R&B music. In 2019, Ruel released the album “Free Time,” and in 2020 he released the song “Down for You.” If you’re a fan of Shawn Mendes, Harry Styles, or Bazzi, then Ruel’s music is a perfect addition to your playlists. Ruel also recently uploaded an acoustic cover of Harry Styles’ song “She,” and it is beautiful to say the least. Some of his more popular tracks include:

KALEO

KALEO is a rock band from Iceland that formed in 2012 and includes: JJ Julius Son (Lead vocalist and guitarist), David Antonsson (drummer) Daniel Kristjansson (bassist), and Rubin Pollock (lead guitarist). If you enjoy: indie rock, alternative rock, garage punk, blues, indie folk, garage rock, or psychedelic rock, KALEO is the perfect new band to start listening to. Their best-known song is “Way Down We Go,” which has been featured in movies, tv series, and commercials. In 2016 they released the masterpiece album, A/B ,and in 2020 they released the EP “Alter Ego” that includes the tracks: “Alter Ego,” “I Want More,” and “Break My Baby.” Other amazing tracks by KALEO include:
