The new Premium Duo plan on Spotify is designed for couples, or for the singles out there with roommates.
The new plan is pretty convenient since it’s a middle ground between Spotify’s individual plan that costs $9.99 a month and Spotify’s family plan that costs $14.99 for up to six users. The Premium Duo plan costs about $14 per month which is a better deal for two people who would normally pay $19.98 a month for two individual accounts. The plan also allows both subscribers to get their own account so Spotify recommends music to each person as individuals. However, my favorite part of the plan is the fact that subscribers will gain access to Duo Mix. This is a playlist which combines both partners’ or roommates’ individual tastes in music.
If you’re like me and already ready to sign up, there are a couple of issues. One catch is that the subscribers to the plan must live at the same address in order to qualify. Another catch is that the Premium Duo plan is currently only being tested in Colombia, Chile, Denmark, Ireland, and Poland. In fact, it isn’t clear when Spotify will launch Premium Duo elsewhere if they decide to do so. Hopefully, the plan launches in the U.S soon because I’d love to see Spotify try to make a coherent Duo mix of my and my boyfriend’s very different musical tastes.
