In college it seems like everyone is out partying for Halloween. If you are not a hard core partier or old enough to go out with your friends like I am, that leaves your options for Halloween pretty slim. I do like to travel, so I got to thinking, what places would be amazing to go for Halloween. So I started searching and I found a few places that really get into the Halloween Spirit.

  • New Orleans

New Orleans is considered to be one of the spookiest cities in the U.S. With their abundance of haunted restaurants and hotels, you will be sure to get a fright. You can take a ghost tour and really get a feel for just how terrifying this city can be. There are also a bunch of street parties that happen on Frenchmen street. Halloween is definitely a special holiday here.

  • Salem

The place known for the 1692 Salem Witch Trials, gets really into Halloween. There is a Salem Witch Museum informs travelers of the true history of witchcraft. They have bar crawls and ghost tours. They also have psychics you can visit to get a reading from.

  • Transylvania

Home of Dracula, Transylvania is sure to do it really big for Halloween. The Bran Castle is what draws most of the visitors. It is said to have been home to Vlad the Impaler. Today people can still visit the castle for tours. If you are brave take a tour on Halloween night.

  • Ireland

This is the birthplace of Halloween, although it is known as Samhain Night. They believe that this is when the dead revisit the mortal world. They have scary movies showing, ghost tours, parades and a dragon safari. This is a total must visit if you want to learn more about the origin of Halloween.

  • New York

New York is always a place with a lot happening. New York has a huge Halloween parade that brings people from all over the country. After you watch the parade you can check out the Crypt Crawl or do a ghost walk. There are a bunch of haunted buildings located all over the city.
