It’s that time of year again when the temperature starts dropping, the leaves start falling and Starbucks starts serving pumpkin spice lattes again. It’s the start of (basically) everyone’s favorite season, and with that comes one of the greatest holidays: Halloween! There are so many ways that you can get into the spooky season spirit and celebrate all month long instead of just on Halloween. There’s no way you can fit all the fun into a single day of the year anyway.
- Carve pumpkins together!
-
Not only is carving pumpkins a great way to get into the spirit, but you can also make a whole day out of it. Grab your boo and head over to any pumpkin patch. It’s a chance to take great Instagram pictures, drink some apple cider and pick out a pumpkin. Then, once you’re back home, you can go about carving your pumpkins! You can work together on one pumpkin — this is my preferred method. Or, you could also carve two pumpkins individually and see whose turns out the best. Everyone loves some friendly competition.
- Have a scary movie marathon
-
This one’s always fun because there are some movies that, no matter how many times I see them, always give me the chills. The great thing about this activity is that you can make it a sleepover. No one’s going to sleep after watching those scary movies anyway. If you and your partner are the types of people that don’t get scared easily, you can sit and laugh about how almost every horror movie is the same. My boyfriend and I even assign each other characters and argue about who would die first if they were in a horror movie.
- Go to horror-themed activities
-
There’s no better way to bond with your partner than seeing how they would react in scary situations. Activities like haunted houses/haunted hikes, hayrides, etc. are fun to do because you’ll be talking about them for weeks afterward. They’re thrilling, and if you’re an adrenaline junkie, this is the one time of year where you can get that rush from haunted houses and get into the spooky spirit simultaneously.
- Have a bonfire and tell scary stories
-
Who doesn’t like eating s’mores and sitting around a warm bonfire on a chilly night with your boo? Now, take that experience and add scary stories into the mix for the perfect get-together that’ll leave everyone feeling more spooked than before. This is an easy event to plan and you get to enjoy the crisp fall air at the same time. Maybe scary stories aren’t your thing, though. You can still enjoy the fall weather and share other stories, or reminisce on past memories you and your partner have made together.
Fall is the greatest season, hands down. The spooky season only makes it that much better. So, go out and enjoy this time while you can. It’s probably the only time of year you’ll have such easy access to anything pumpkin flavored, and there are so many activities to enjoy with your partner that you can’t during any other time of year.
