Now that October is here, that means more tests and more exams to worry and stress over. Here are my favorite ways to quickly de-stress so I can get back to my studies.

  • Head to Mirror

This may seem silly but it’s very comfortable. I would suggest a bathroom mirror but if you have another mirror that’s cold/cool then it can work. Resting your face (especially temples and cheeks) on the cool mirror makes you focus on the cooling sensation rather than what’s stressing you out. This is the easiest method and you see results almost instantly.

  • Face in Freezer

This process is similar to the head to mirror, however your head doesn’t even have to go in the freezer, just be close enough to feel the air kiss your face. This one is harder if you do not have a home freezer or you’re living in a dorm without a freezer. The alternative to this would be rubbing an ice cube on your face. It’s slightly messier and you would probably need more than one, but it works just as well.

  • Savasana with the wind

This one is my favorite method. S(h)avasana is a yoga pose. It requires you to lie on your back completely relaxed, legs (and arms) spread apart and the palms of your hands facing up. I would suggest doing this on a bed/couch (if you have low back pains), blanket, or floor (if you need pressure on your back). If you’re indoors, have the room extremely cold or be near a window. If you’re outdoors, try to position yourself so that the winds hits you on the sides of your body. You have to focus on the sounds of the wind to eliminate daily common noises that can distract you from relieving the stress.

With the first two ways, the cold would overcome your stress but the last way requires you to listen and feel the wind because the touch of the wind wouldn’t be strong enough to overpower your stress by itself.

While these three ways to de-stress won’t get rid of all of your problems immediately, they will be able to provide you enough relief to do you school work.
